Can you use any temperature controlled iron to wax your board or does it have to be a dry iron (no holes in the bottom for steam)?

Holes are fine

the iron should be hot enough to melt the wax but not so it makes it smoke

and O L D steam iron is ok just dont put ANY water in it otherwise it will sod up the wax Smile

Do you know of a good alternative to a structure brush, £20 is a bit much for a nylon brush from a board shop?

Scotchbrite you can get from Asda, you use it to clean pans. Its like green rough rubbery stuff. I used to use it to clean brake caliper pistons on motorbikes

sounds pretty hardcore, and watching that vid, having never waxed my own board before despite having it for like close to a year, it looks like he jsut irons on the board, is the iron on at thta point?

and when he scrapes it off, do you only have to put so muhc pressure on or else surely it will just take it al off Shocked

scotchbright is a green or red cloth used in the painting industry ( amongst other things ) to put a key into paint to give " new paint " something to bond to.

it basically does the same as a fine sandpaper if used to flat paint off, but less destructive, and it actually puts a light scuff into the paint

It's the same thing as found on the little sink sponges for cleaning pans etc....

The cheapest brush I've seen is at snow and rock for £14 but it is only nylon not brass.

scotchbright - ANY car accessory shop ( halfords, Auto Centre, charlie browns etc.... )

or ANY DIY shop ( B&Q, homebase etc..)

and they are peanuts to buy, maybe £2 for 3 or something like that, and they will last for ages
