they buy previous seasons stock dirt cheap and sell it dirt cheap....they put local shops out of bussiness then buy there stock for a fraction of the price.

Who sell to people like my mate Brett who lives in a council flat with his mum and his brother because he cant afford to go to high street shops and buy a quicksilver T-shirt for £30.

TK Maxx is a good thing

well most board shops sell at the recommended retail price, and the shops that do sell higher are tossers
plus a lot of board shops will give a little discount if you get to know them too

TK Maxx does these shops a favour. Because most don't sell on the RRP...

TK Maxx buy out the stuff they can't sell...therefore saving them very large losses on stock.

Independant shops commit to buy most of their stock before the season starts...so, they have to be prudent and efficient...and TK Maxx helps them out big time.

Wal-mart is wrong.

The rest of them are ok I suppose.

Apart from the dispicable sweat shops that they often rely on for their produce.

yeah i understand that some people cant afford stuff, and yes i know some shops over price things but a lot of shops are owned by hardworking individuals, who also believe that some shops are over priced and that dont do it...and when that do they give all shops a bad name...
but when the big companies come in then the little guys have no chance unless they have a faithfull costomers,
my local shop have had to stop selling a few brands cause tkmaxx is selling them.
and tkmaxx dont buy stuff the shops cant sell they buy stuff when the shops close down!

we are (well most of us are) hard working individuals too - who have every right to vote with our wallets and shop where the keenest prices are, sadly for the little guys its the way of the western world. TKMaxx are onto a good thing and I reckon we may as well use it - just like the average housewife goes to a supermarket and not to the highstreet butchers bakers n candle stick makers individually

TK Maxx's USP

Lots of different brand makes for a low price

High street shops USP

A few different brands.

Although that comes with a higher price

so people are gonna choose TK Maxx

also

Where most TK maxx r placed is in large "shopping mall" type places.

The one in errr

stevenage for example.

It is situated in the middle of a shopping centre that has many stores with appealing products.

Rather than search for bits and bobs around the town different shops different places etc it is easyer for the consumer to go to a large retail park and purchase everything the invidiual wants whilst being in one place and at a discount.

Customers do not want to wander round on hours searching for products.

Smile

im going to bed i feel like sh1t, see ya people

xox

Lui.

yeah i'm a hardworking individual too and have had a look in tkmaxx and seen the deals on gear, but then i walk in to my local shop and am greeted with a smile and they know who i am and what i like in gear so that where i shop,
and i konw if i want any advise on gear, or if i have a problem with anything then i know they will go there best to sort me out.
i dont want to be just another costomer walking down the line of 20 checkout desks to the red shirted "Sales Assistant" with the false smile, mindlessly scanning things and putting them into bags
i do like having a chat about the world, snowboarding or otherwise, and having a cup of tea weather i buy somthing of not
knowing that when i get a smile after buying somthing it not just cause the boos told them to smile is cause they know that i'm buying somthing that thye know i will enjoy

Well it is truly fantastic that you have enough money to consistently pay high prices...I am overjoyed for you Laughing ...but in the real world, when there is a bargain afoot...people will follow.

I'd love to go to a local snowboard shop every few months or whatever to pick up gear...sit down, have a cup of tea...chat about the season passed, or season coming...It would be great....but that isn't practical, and to criticise TK Maxx when so many people rely on it for affordable snowsports clothing, is quite frankly absurd.

thats very true - and something i had practically forgotton about. As i said earlier no local board shops in this area so not used one in a long long time but i totally get what you are saying, I used to work in a bmx/skateboard shop in the 80s when bmx was all the rage and it was v cool to be able to chat to ppl who were into what they were buying

If i get a job i'll be able to do that cos 100% of the money goes to meeeee

and being 16, no tax, no car to pay for, no food costs etc

Just 2 days a week will get me about £120 a month Smile

I might consider it.

im sorry but only a fool would pay full price for something they could get for half price, that's just straight up dumb.

tkmax, as you said, deals in LAST seasons gear, so it's stuff the shops etc couldn't sell, so to the shops, it's pretty much dead revenue, unless they can get rid of it, tkmax, buys it and HAZAAA, they give the little shops money for stuff they couldn't shift,

but being honest, i actually thought tkmax bought from wholesalers not "the little" guy, as theres no way the same local shops you speak of, have X number of dc mountain lab pants, to put pairs in stores all over the country.

they used to buy the old last seasons stock clothes from the likes of phat farm, fubu, karl kani etc too, until hiphopwardrobe etc, made the clearing wholesellers a better offer.

ROB can understand where your coming from but sorry, always check TK-max for clothing
but then the little shop still gets my hard earn'd cash for the main purchases .... boards boot and bindings
as you say, if you have problems with your stick you can take it back and have a nice chat with the local shop
they bend over backwards to help which is cool, and why i'd pay a little more on a board from my local shop
rather than search the internet and get it £50 cheaper....

but for clothing ... sorry .... boarding can be a bit like a fashion parade sometimes
and if my brand new last seasons O'niel jacket has a problem .... oh well, just buy another for £30 from TK-max

I'm with Robster on this. Support your local snowboard shop because they support local snowboarding. Kinda obvious really.

TK Maxx doesn't organise comps or jams, it doesn't hook up promising riders with product in order to keep shredding, it doesn't ask about your last holiday or latest trick, it doesn't provide knowledgeable advice on the kit.
