Stu and I had a long meeting with senior management on 05/10/06 at SNO!zone MK. They basically said they can't really work with SCUK any closer than they already do, when all they read on our forums is personal insults about their business.
We could discuss the very positive things SCUK do for SNO!zone via the news, calendar, supporting events, slope directory, newsletters and the forum and we could also talk about why people get frustrated with Xscape, but I don't think that's going to help. They see the forum as an integral part of the SCUK offering and it's largely irrelevant to them that comments are from individuals and not our own opinions.
Naturally, they don't mind constructive criticism. What they don't like is being called w@nkers; from the slope staff to the management team. I hope everybody can appreciate where they're coming from!
At SCUK we want to provide an open forum for discussion, but we need to work with people like Xscape for the benefit of our members. We are not talking about censorship of the forum. We already have rules about personal attacks and dealing with 3rd party conflicts and this already falls in to these categories. There's also possible recourse to legal action for libel under English law (although of course our servers are in the US, so we've never been quite sure where we stand on that one).
What we do need help with and ask users to help us with, is:
1. Refrain from getting personal.
2. Notify Matt in the office on info@snowboardclub.co.uk of any rule breaking.
This is for all posts, not just those concerned with Xscape, obviously.
I hope you appreciate where we're coming from and can help us to help you.
There are some technical solutions we can put in place to help us do this, but having your help is really appreciated.
We will not tolerate inconsiderate behaviour on the forum. There really is no need for it. Frequent transgressors will be banned from the forum, banned from the site and risk any SCUK membership being cancelled. We certainly intend to take a harder line on this from now on. |

Xscape MK is fantastic, I don't have a bad word to say about them or Cas.. They provide snow and the occasional toy, that is better than nothing at all...
