According to winterhighland.com the weather is supposed to be fantastic this weekend on the hills. Dry and sunny, although it'll be getting a bit toasty on Saturday - at 900m 5C rising to 10C in the afternoon!
Cairngorm are saying that they have the middle runs open, but narrow in places and the terrain park at the top should still be there so I'll be heading up with the missus. The photos on the website look great.
Why the hell would you go to Xscape when there's still proper snow around??!! |

Because my plan is Xscape on Friday night, Glencoe on Sat, Gorm on Sun and Nevis on Mon
It looks like the middle runs at the Gorm aren't fairing too well anyway They're already saying you have to walk from the race hut down to the M1 Poma. In snow report terms "very narrow at the bottom" usually means no snow at all. The Ciste gulley is now shut as the West Wall poma uptrack is broken and the Cas T-bar hasn't ran this week. That only leaves the Ptarmigan Bowl... and I bet you they'll still want you to pay £26 even though the only complete non-beginner lift will be the Ciste Tbar and possibly the M1 poma at a push. |

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday you'll be able to board at Nevis Range for the price of a gondola ticket.
Basically at just £8.25 for adults and £5 for kids you'll be able to ride on the upper mountain, which as good wide cover. Warrens is complete, but not linked to the Goose. The goose tow may only run from tower 4 and you will have to use the Chair for access since alpha will not be running. Summit button and Summit Park will open.
The Summit Park may need work first thing Saturday morning, but should set up real sweet. Kinked Rail, C-Rail, Box Rail, Long Flat Rail, 20ft jump, 45 ft Booter, Rollers and a Quarter Pipe.
The weather is looking good for the weekend, there should be some excellent spring sport and what more its less than a tenner.
Regards Mark |

It is... except now it's about the prices at Cairngorm compared to Nevis Range lol At that sort of prices, it's got to be worth a look. Shame you're not on the summit tow Mark or you could have got a wee BBQ going for everyone!
Any word on the Braveheart and the Back Corries Mark? Do you think they may try to run it seeing as they went to all the effort of hanging the chairs? |

Hi all,
Don’t think Braveheart will open this weekend, but the backs still have good cover on the drop in, but the traverse is broken, you can pick your way back round.
The Summit, Goose, Sidewinder, Warrens still has real good cover. You still can ride over 1000mtr long runs with the Goose with super wide cover full width until Tower 4.
May I also take this opportunity to say what a sweet set up at the Gorms have, 3 new really sweet Rails, nice looking Hip and a big Booter.... looks real good.
Cant wait to session the park up there, smashed my knee in on the Kinked Rail at the Summit Park, so it will be next season before I can enjoy the pleasures of Metal.
Hi Stevie you sure look busy this weekend, keep up the good work, your coverage of the Scottish scene is second to none. Respect Dude.
Regards Mark. |

After a few phonecalls I've heard nothing back from the Gorm about the competition. Some people are saying Saturday, some are saying Sunday (and that include folk from the Gorm office). No one seems to have an offical answer.
Anyway I think they may have shot themselves in the foot by not offering the £10 deal across the whole weekend. I don't see the point in paying £20 for a beginners ticket when you can get much more terrain over at Nevis for £8.50. |

| I was up at the gorms today, the rails are nice with but the spring snow is is quite slushy so you can't get to much speed. One person told me the jam was tommorow and another told me it was on sunday so I don't know but I'm thinking of checking it out, also saw Lesly McKenna today. |

Hi all,
Who needs a comp? Lets face it they have a set of shiny new all dancing rails, a HUGE sweet hip and a real big booter.
Lets not forget what Snowboarding is all about, expression, enjoyment, pleasure and a togetherness.
At the end of the day if there’s is no comp, don’t let this put you off, go ride for yourself not anyone else. This will probably be the last weekend of the Scottish season, so have a real sweet one.
Sorry if I have rattled on a bit, but when you smash your knee on a rail and cant walk for at least 4 weeks you realise how much snowboarding means. Already looking forward to next season..... Let the good times roll.
Regards Mark. |

Went up to Cairngorm on Saturday and it was absolutely fantastic. Blue sunny skies and plenty of terrain on the summit. Didn't quite manage the rails but got some decent air going off the kickers to the side.
They had rails out plus a couple of huge kickers at the top of the Ptarmigan tow. I saw Lesley McKenna too! I took a few photos so I'll try and post them over the next day or so.
To think I had contemplated going to Xscape... |
