I've just spoke to the marketing dept up at the Gorm and they're not too sure what's happening. Some people are saying Saturday, some are saying Sunday and Ski patrol are saying all the rails are on their sides after 100mph winds over the last few days!
They're going to give me a call back tomorrow once they've spoke to a few more people and found out more details about whats happening. |

| its just the ski patrol - coatches - GBR snowoard traniees and locals + visiters gona have some fun not an offical comp just end of season fun. I no there is deff a comp for under 17s on sun think Ross is organising that. Winds are about 20 - 60mph the now but will die down by the weekend. Boxes and rails are set up and are being maintained every other day by ski patroll. |

| I emailed Cairngorm on Monday and got nothing back. This pretty much sums up the response whenever we try to get any information about anything from any of the Scottish slopes to try to let people know what's happening up there. No wonder they're struggling! |

That was the general impression I got on the phone. It's sounds more an impromptu jam, rather than an all singing all dancing comp. Still any publicity is good publicity... especially as there's a good chance of blue skies and sunshine at this time of year.
I'm planning on heading up with my board and camera no matter what day its on (although the camera will be getting closer to the rails than my board will!) I'll try to speak to the snowboard club who are independent of Cairngorm Mountain and see if we can't start pushing things next season. There's a will on our behalf to do it, so lets see if I can encourage them a bit more. |

| I'm still waiting for word back from PhatTom about taking shots at Xscape, but I'm considering coming along to ride on Friday, with or without the camera. All depends on the weather though. If it's going to be at all decent this weekend, then I'm might do Glencoe, the Gorm and Nevis for one last time this season (and just crash in a bunkhouse overnight - I got a new car on the 31st of January and it's done close to 4800 miles already. Nothing much, until you consider I only live 1.5 miles from my work!) |

end of season snow
That pretty much sums it up. Only Nevis, Glencoe and Cairngorm are still opened, with most of the lower runs broken. It's typical late spring snow, so no matter where you go the snow will get heavier and wetter as the day goes on.... the powder days we had a few weeks ago are long gone.
Nevis and Cairngorm still have decent parks on offer at the top of the hills, where as Glencoe just has natural terrain.
Have a look at www.winterhighland.info for a more accurate picture (although Nevis and Glencoe are closed until the weekend, so we won't really know the situation until then) |

If anyone heads past or up to Glencoe this weekend can they please post to say how it is? I'm a newbie, end of my first season but would like to get one more day in on Monday if there's still enough snow. Noticed the car was saying it was 16 degrees this afternoon |

I don't know how good Glencoe will be for you unless you've mastered the poma yet. Judging by the pictures of the Plateau and Mugs Alley from last Sunday, they'll be doing good to hold on until Monday. That only leaves the top half of the mountain and a T-bar for access
On another note, I'm now definitely heading along to Xscape on Friday night. So if you see someone with a camera on the slope, feel free to say hello, but try not to hit me (I'll have my board with me too). |
