put board in sleeping bag, then in board bag and surround it by any other sh1t you are taking(jacket, pants etc)

....or put your mates board in and put it on top of yours Wink

baggage handlers are'nt to blame....id get pi$$ed off with watching every one else go on holiday and kick the sh1t out of thier stuff Laughing

Buy a cheap foam camping roll mat. (tenner ?)
Cut 2 pieces slightly bigger than your board, sandwhich your board between them.
Stick the edges together in a few places to stop the board falling out.
Shove it in your board bag.
Check it in.
Hope someone like Drew isn't working as ground staff and handling your bags that day.
Get bag at other end.
Hit the snow.

Sorted.

As I was getting off the plane at East Mid's the other week I saw the baggage handlers just launching some bags onto the belt. Most ended up hitting the ground from a great hieght. They are a set of *****

this happened last week at lyon airport coming back from the winter bash, a tractor that had a couple of trolleys attached with bags on was driving by and about 10 bags fell off.

one before that a set of skis fell off and a bus nearly ran over them. the tractor driver carried on driving until someone stopped him.

I know it must be a boring job but lets face it most jobs are. They should be taking more care and more should be done to police it. All the airlines seem to do is get you to sign a piece of paper declaring you waiver any damage to your board. Thats them saying we know it's going to be dragged across the run way but instead of taking more care we'll just get you to waiver any chance of a claim.

Handy tip: foam pipe insulation.

Buy some of this stuff cheap from DIY shops. It comes in lengths with a slit down the side to allow them to be placed over a pipe. You can cut them to size, and even shape them, then slip them over the edges of the board to protect it.

First time we went away we were waiting to board when we saw our board bags being handled, I wanted to cry and scream at them.. it was a horrible feeling... besides I work in cargo at the airport, you wanna see the way the handle animals and "fragile" items, its not good!!

I have 2 cheapy (£1 shop bought) beanie hats which I put on each edge of my board, then I wrap it in a beach towel to protect it and then pad it out as much as poss with clothing and kit.

Just bulk your board bag up as much as poss, so you can only just do the zip up, the less movement there is in there, the better!
