Hi!
I'm all booked for my first 2 lessons a week from today at Braehead XScape. Levels 1 and 2... Planning on doing the next 2 levels the following week and hopefully I'll be competent enough to go it alone!
Any ideas what I should be bringing? I have a waterproof puffer jacket and my mate is giving me proper trousers and gloves. Anyone else done the lessons?
Cheers,
Kieran |

I would ditch the waterproof puffer jacket, you will be sweating like a pig`
nice soft shell jacket or decent waterproof with layering underneath, |

Yeah, you definitely don't need a puffer jacket, you will sweat loads, to be honest, you'd probably be fine with an old hoody and a tshirt underneath (maybe go for a couple of layers of tshirt).
If you're taking a waterproof go for a thin one.
I'm sure you'll have a great time whatever though dude |

| Cool, sounds sensible! How are lessons? Anyone done any? Are the first 4 levels enough to get me going? I'm fairly athletic in general and I've got decent balance as is! |

the first 4 levels will set you up nicely, it all depends on how well you take to it?
If you have good balance your on the right road, |

+1 on all the comments about getting too warm! We had no idea when we went for our board in a day, we thought we would be freezing but we were roasted. One of the lads had a full set of thermals on under his full snowboarding gear!!
My mrs has just completed level 1 & 2 albeit at Cas. I did my 1,2,3,4 at Braehead. They should all follow the same trend, showing you round the board, working out which foot you'll use going forwards (Regular/goofy), probably do some skating about (one foot strapped in) then up the learners hill to learn about your edges. You'll be going down the hill on your heel edge and toe edge learning control, then it will be side slipping.
All in all its good fun, some other odds and ends will be thrown in - like the best way to try to get up etc. If you're reasonably fit it should be no problem for you either.
Enjoy!! |

The lessons are good, I did 1 and 2 in a one-er, then 3 and 4 seperately. After this you should be able to go on the big boy slope on your own. |

I did.
1/2 one week 3/4 the next.
Enjoy it and get plenty of feedback. I think i'd recommend a follow up lesson after a few weeks to correct any fundamental flaws you pick up before they settle in habit. |

| I've just completed my level 4 this week at Braehead and had some time on my own on the slope. Think I'm getting addicted to it |

| Had the first 2 lessons and they went really well... The next double (3 and 4) wasn't available for nearly 3 weeks... So going on Tuesday and Thursday next week! Gonna buy my own boots though... I hate the rentals... Plus my lower half is fond of injury so I was hoping this could help! |
