Out of them i've only been to Mayrhofen (3 times). Awesome place and plenty for everyone. Nice groomed runs with varying difficulties, some decent off piste and a glacier just up the road (there's also a killer park). Apres is sweet with plenty of bars and clubs. Loads of hotels and b&bs and if you're staying in Mayrhofen it'll only be a short walk to the lifts no matter where you stay.
Can't recommend the place highly enough tbh any questions let me know mate. |

Yea you won't be far from the lifts wherever you stay in the town tbh buddy.
Depends what lift you use mate, if you go up the Ahorn side (limited to several blue and red runs but does have the ice bar/club there) you can ride a nice red all the way down to the center of the town. If you use the main lift, Penkenbahn, then nope you can't ride down. |

| You can ride down on the horbergbahn lift too. Its about a 5 minute bus back into town. (but the lift is considerably less busy!) |

I'd recommend Mayrhofen in preference to Soll, but I haven't been to Saalbach so can't comment on it.
Soll's OK for apres, with really really good steaks and pizza at Auf Da Muhle above Whiskey Muhle but it's a pretty low altitude resort with some OK runs at best. Fantastic toboggan run though with a bar at the top for each run. The lift pass covers quite a distance and has good links across Westerndorf which is supposed to have a decent park, etc... but I was nursing a beginner Mrs when I went so had limited free time for myself.
Mayrhofen's pretty good. The town is quite good. Reasonable selection of bars and a couple of clubs full of twentysomething blokes and about 2 women. The ice bar is popular but not with me. There's a few decent places to eat around town. Get a lift pass that covers the whole area and you'll have access to Zillertal Arena (quiet and excellent), the Hintertux glacier (handy if the snow's crap) and the Ahorn and Penken in Mayrhofen. It's worth using the Horbergbahn lift as Siany said. You can avoid the queues easy enough (and the ice bar) by heading over there. Easy access to the Vans park and half decent pizza next to it, then head back towards the Rastkogel for a long run down to the lifts upto the Eggalm (stop for a Zillertal Radler at Heidi's on the way). In fact, just go to Mayrhofen and enjoy it |

At risk of putting you off Mayrhofen dude i didnt find it to be quite what i was hoping for when i was there this past feb.
I had been wanting to go for years and years and had heard endless good things about it,but my experience was kinda "hmmmm".
dont get me wrong i had a great time, the snow was good etc but the slopes were just far too busy and long lift q's too.
to be fair to the place my riding seemed to be in a bit of a Funk when i was there (you know how you get off days, well i seemed to hit an entire off week!) , i dont know what it was but i just couldnt ride right all week and couldnt relax, i was making beginner mistakes and just couldnt seem to find my groove all week, apart from a few hours mid week when i was riding off piste runs up at the Glacier, that afternoon Rocked!!!
The place does have plenty to offer: lots of runs, newish lift systems, loads of eateries and bars too also plenty luxury spas to relax in. But it just didnt stack up to my previous trips and even slovakia which had far less to offer in ALL aspects seemed to Come out on top in my books.
But i guess its each to their own, and i think i had just bigged the place up in my head too much before going |
