Post subject: Rome Artifact - to Rock or not?

Before I start I know the answer already - Demo. However both my locals (Hemel and MK) don't have them (it is July I guess!) and I have birthday money burning a hole in my pocket!
I'm looking to buy an indoor board as I only do one week a year on a mountain but spend a lot of time in the fridge and have moved a lot more into freestyle recently so it makes sense to buy a jib board. Both artifacts are boards which constantly gets good reviews and are on sale for a very good price at the moment so have caught my eye! From what I've read it's pretty much as you'd expect, the rocker rides slightly softer, solid on rails but lacks a bit of pop and the cambered version "only gains from being cambered". I do probably ride more rails than jumps to be honest, but don't want to be left wanting when gapping onto rails or hitting the smaller jumps. The cambered version is also 30 quid cheaper and in my eyes has better graphics  !
So the question is, does anyone have any experience/views/recommendations of the 12 artifact/artifact rocker? |

I like the rockered version dude - it's still snappy but really jibby on rails...
But then again i do have a different board for when not in the fridge

Yeah I've got another board which I'm currently using to make do, but is nowhere near Buttery enough! Will keep hold of it for that one week a year though (not worth selling it on)!
Having never ridden a rocker board and not having the chance to test, I'm just a bit worried that it could be disastrous!
Best board in the world?! Big claim there! ha ha! |

Demo a rocker board or two/three - any rocker will do, from any manufacturer (or two different makers), just to get a feel for how they ride. You might like it, you might not.
I've ridden 'regular' boards for years, then bought a rocker to ride at Hemel (Forum Youngblood Chillidog) and after a few weeks decided I preferred the feel/way regular cambered bards ride. It's personal preference, but no two boards ride quite the same. |

| it's worth checking out what sort of rocker it is... all sorts of different styles though... the amptek, flatkick, neversummer RC etc... do genuinely ride differently... i love my RC tech but really didn't get on with the amptek... but trying as many as you can is definitely worth it |

I've always had camber Artifacts, 4 of them so far. They are great boards. I'm sure the rocker is aswell. But I've had a rocker K2www too. Again a great jib board if a bit soft for jumps.
It really is personal preference. camber v rocker regards the artifact. There must be folk at hemel and MK from the forum who ride them who could give you a lend for a pint |

| I have an artifact rocker and it's great for rails, buttering etc but not great on kickers any bigger than very small. There's not enough pop for me and it's sketchy if you land too far in the back seat. If I were to buy one again I'd go for the cambered option. Great boards regardless. |

Cheers for the feedback guys. Unfortunately I'm away for 2 weeks at the moment so won't be able to bribe someone into letting me have a go!
To be fair the comments back up what I have thought in the way that the camber doesn't suffer on rails as much as the rocker does on jumps, so for versatility I think I'll go for the cambered version! |

I've got a cambered Artifact and love it. You get the stability and pop from the camber but all the oodley noodlyiness you'd expect from the Artifact. I've never ridden the rockered version but you won't be sorry if you get the cambered one, that's for sure.
You're welcome to have a go on it when you're back if you can wait that long... |
