Actually pretty good considering it's free for non-commercial use/codecs. Might be worth a look at for anyone with a GoPro that doesn't fancy forking out for software. |

I generally prefer after effects and premier pro for my animations and video editing as the integration is straight forward and robust enough for what i need, i also use photoshop all the time so its a no brainer. Work won't stump up for the licence at the moment though as currently we don't do much animation work. I have been playing with this as an option seeing as its free and i have to say its powerful and can do most of what a general video editor will require.
Bear in mind though, i think the learning curve for this is pretty unforgiving by comparison to most out of the box solutions. It has some awkward bugs and work arounds too.
Also the free version is free to use commercially too. The pro version provides a more powerful (and likely stable) version with more plug in and codec support.
Worth a punt. If anyone does anything with it, it would be great to see it. |

The key element here though is free AE & Premiere Pro are pretty expensive by comparison
I don't feel like it's any less intuitive than any other package though. If anything it seems simpler. I've had a fiddle with AE and PP before and found them a bit full on. |

No your right free is a great price. Maybe I'm just too set in my ways with AE and prem pro and that's why I found it awkward.
Lol I know strange in this day and age that it's windows only. |

It won't bother the majority of the world that it's windows only |

According to their site they are currently developing the Mac version as the windows BETA testing took far too long as its such an unstable and sh1t platform
Still, FCP seems perfectly usable and all of my plugins seem to work well with it |

Looks interesting....and free is always a bonus.
I used Premier Pro for my edit this year - considering I'm a total amateur at these things, I found that once I'd got to grips with the interface it was pretty good. My bro-in-law scabbed me a copy from his work though and I'm not sure I'd fork out for it..... |

| By no means an expert in this sort of stuff so feel free to ridicule me, but I noticed the free version doesn't handle the h.264 encode and decode. Doesn't this effectively rule out straight up GoPro footage? |

I use an HD Hero, all my footage goes through the CineForm app from GoPro first anyway as it's brilliant at cutting down clips and doing minor colour adjustments etc.

All the footage that came out of that, went into Lightworks no problem for me! |

CineForm refuses to output anything for me, so that rules it out for me too (at least on GoPro footage, I'll give it a go on stuff out of my 7D) |

| Always been hit and miss for me, but usually on the convert stage. It either hangs or goes straight to complete. Good bit of kit for the price though... |

| Ironically it works for anything out of my 7D, but it goes straight to complete for GoPro footage! |

Weird! Might seem like an inane question but did you update the firmware for your GoPro? I only ask because I know mine's flashed with newer firmware and not what I got 'out the box' when I bought it originally!
Probably won't make a diff. but.. worth a look! |
