I'm just coming back from major injury and am gonna dip my toe in the water for the first time on Sat for Maverix Riding Performance. Is anyone else gonna be going?
I'm a bit nervous after so long but know with J I'll be really well looked after. Be nice to see some friendly faces Sat. |

I'm going through the same thing at the moment and I don't think there's anything universal as everyone processes things differently and what might help me may not work for you.
I know that I'm gonna need a combination of being nudged and prodded at features to get my trying things going again whilst simultaneously not putting excessive pressure on myself (or having someone else put pressure on me) to do things I'm not quite ready for or that I don't feel up to. I think having an instructor around is the right way forward for me, providing that instructor is someone I have trust in that they wouldn't be suggesting I try something I wasn't capable of doing.
After my "The Fear" thread I spent some time talking to Baden @ Onyx as he's a sports psychologist as well as a snowboard instructor and it's definitely helped my confidence levels as I at least have a better understanding of specifically what it is that I'm worrying about when I start having a crisis of confidence. Not sure if Maverix have anyone like that but if they do it would definitely be worth trying to talk to them before your session, as I'm sure you've realised long before now progression has a habit of being as much about confidence than it is about technique! |

Beer
hehe
Just make sure your confident that your injury is fully healed by gettin back into things gradually and then starting to push it a little more - Supports and armour help - and then just take it from there -
I think your both doing the rite thing in going to coaching session's as there is the inevitable pitfall of just taking things far too slowly to rationalise your own fear. |

Yeah I think a hipflask of Jager will do the trick CC haha
But yeah don't want sit and talk about things too much, just wanna crack on with getting started, taking it slow and building up. My injury is still ongoing but the main fracture is fully healed just core muscles and stability need to be built up...I just can not stand sitting at home anymore. Been 2.5/3 months so far...it's soo pants haha
I had just felt a big shift in my riding, thanks to all the Maverix crew my riding had really stepped up before the injury. I think I need to do this Performance Course and get the gang to assess where I'm at compared to where I was prior to it. |
