Hey, not sure if this would be the right board so apologies if not!
Yesterday I did the incredibly foolish thing of getting a drunken piggy back ride, which resulted in us both falling forwards and a trip to A&E for me. My right clavicle is fractured, but doesn't require any surgery just to be in a sling fir 6 weeks.
The sh1t thing is I'm going for a snowboarding trip to Morzine on the 3rd April! I'm so gutted, have had it booked for like 8 months.
Some people have said it could be okay by 4 weeks, at least for some gentle cruises on blue runs.
Does anyone with experience think this is realistic or are people trying to cheer me up? I'm resigned to the possibility of just taking in the views and sitting in the hot tub, but would be nice to know if I had some chance of getting some riding in!
Cheers in advance x |

Have you already taken insurance out before your fall that you could claim some of the holiday cost back against?
If not I wouldn't ride. Most insurance policies wont insure you if you are already injured. If you do ride and something happens it makes your policy invalid and you get stung for a bill |

I would think that the bone would still be healing by then so any fall would probably break it again. I'm not a medical expert or anything though so your probably better checking with a doctor.
Like dashie said if you ride and re-injure it then you mihjt not be covered by insurance. |

I suspect if you do go you would be travelling against medical advice, so would be uninsured, I feel for ya, had to cancel my Whistler trip last year due to injury, it sucked! |

I broke mine at MK a week before flying out to L2A last year. It was touch and go as to whether I needed surgery or not but was told by the doc to give it 3 weeks in the sling to see what happened first. I'll admit that I went to L2A anyway and did have to odd sneaky go on the "easy" slopes (hence me wearing my bag in an odd way in my avatar). I'd have the sling on on the lift then take it off for the run down only to out it back on again at the bottom! This was obviously against medical advise but I accepted the risk. After 3 weeks I was told it was healing and that I didn't need the sling, I was however told to take it easy for 3 months to allow it to heal properly and to refrain from sports such as cycling etc. To be honest, your doctor probably knows best about these things.
If you have insurance speak to them. I had to take out extra cover for the clavicle which cost £20. I did this mainly in case I slipped on some ice around the town and did further damage. You don't need to be on the slopes to add further injury. |

i broke mine start of the last season and it just wouldn't knit(probably as it was so over lapped), was layed up for almost 4 months. Surgeons where I did it said it needed pinning so I came back to UK for sh1t treatment of just leaving it lol.
I did a week in Austria after 2 months of healing (just on blues and I spent it teaching friends so I wouldn't be tempted to hit the park etc) but I think this put me back a month on healing time really, so wouldn't advise it. |

| Yeah, that's basically what happened to me, except that they did offer to insure my shoulder for an additional sum whihc I though I migth as well take up. Not sure they would have paid up if I'd injured it on the slope though... |
