Hey Guys!!
I'm going to buy my first board in a few weeks and I'm looking at a few options. I will of course demo a few boards but I need to draw up a wee list.
I will be popping into TSA and using the dome at Braehead but I'm not sure if it will be nerve wracking as I've only started boarding this year. I have been up north 5 times with the Mrs and I can link my turns pretty well for a newbie and don't have a problem using pomas but as it's my first time in a dome I'm not sure what to expect.
I have been looking at boards for a while and 2 boards that appeal to me are the Salomon Official (158) and the OMatic Awesome (156). I'd like to demo these boards but I'm interested in any other suggestions or feedback on these 2. The Bataleon Goliath also appeals but they seem harder to find at this time of year.
I have already got my own boots which are the excellent Salomon Dialogues so the next part is naturally a board and bindings.
Thanks for any feedback troops!! |

I know there are a million and one answers out there, and I guess most people will always love their first board.
Personally, I got an Endeavor Color - really good, solid little Canadian company and the Color's a complete steal in the sales. Was also really surprised at the number of compliments I got on it, and it's always been quite nice to ride a brand that doesn't seem to be huge over here for some reason.
Saw loads of them at Whistler, with one guy from Vancouver wanting to shake my hand and thank me for riding 'their' brand.
Anyway, they don't seem to get mentioned often so thought I'd put a good word in for them, the board's done an absolutely great job for me for the best part of three years now.
I know they do them at TSA Braehead too. |

| If your going to TSA in breahead soon then u might be limited on what they have, they didnt have much left due to end of season sales, they said they would get more in the beginning of september. |

Yeah your leaving it a bit late now... if you want the best choice in the UK, you need to buy at the start of the season.
I've already seen a few posts where people have said that some of the stores in the snowdomes are already out of stock for the boards they want to demo. |

End of season = less choice + smaller prices
Start of season = more choice + higher prices
You can get some bargains now if you're not too fussy about which board you want. I looked at the Official but went for a Stepchild as it was cheaper and BRIGHT FRICKIN' YELLOW!! Seems like a decent all round board tho. Stable enough to learn on but plenty poppy enough to start falling off! (I *think* ROBster rides one...)
Might be best to give TSA a ring first and see what they have around your size. Or do what I do and spend weeks searching through reviews and buy before you try! |

Cheers guys.
I'll have a look and see what they still have, I know it's always a gamble to buy without having a demo but this appears the best way to grab a bargain if TSA have limited stock. |

I had a look in TSA before ordering my first board and there select seemed limited and only a few in my price range, decided to just order a 156 Rome Crail from SierraSnowboard and managed to get some Burton Custom bindings for around $40. Should arrive on Monday, though that hasn't stopped me hammering refresh on the FedEx page the past few days.
Only problem I have now is I can't find a pair of boots, popped into TSA the other day hoping they'd have something to try on but they said they were sold out of everything in 9-11. |

| Thanks. I have been looking on SierraSnowboards as they have some good deals. May just take a punt with them with a well reviewed board. |

If it's your first board ima guessing you're relatively new to boarding?
Try get a directional board with a reasonable amount of flex if you're wanting to improve from beginner level etc
My first board is about 6 years old and was $140! Still does me fine even still, new tech doesnt necessarily mean better riding (: |
