Hi Guys,

Just acquired a Icon Wallpaper 07 and it's in need of a full service. Usually i do everything myself but i think it needs a base grind.
I know that they use a 80-140 grit paper on the machines in the shops so would it be possible to do it yourself on a belt sander just to level the base out slightly and reduce some of the light sctratches?

(I live in Somerset and there is literally nowhere near a shop offering serving and its not worth £30+ just to have a basegrind)

Thanks!

Alex

Whilst I don't doubt you potentially could do it, you're going to have a field day trying to make sure what you've sanded off is 100% flat.

Personally I'd either forget about it, wait till you happen to be closer to a base grind (in resort or whatever) or just pay the dollar and get 'er done properly.

Belt sander just leaves me with horrible images of an uneven base.

Unfortunately living in a lame part of the world just makes an expensive hobby more expensive :/

Yep!! i have had the same visions but like £47 for a posted service does take the p**s somewhat... I might just smooth out the edges of the big gouges and get the p-tex out and give it a good waxing and see how that goes.

If it becomes a issue ill just crack out the other board and deal with it when i come back.

Plymouth is the nearest place that i think offers it so yup not the best place to be!
