Just been looking at buying tickets for this online from Ticketmaster and it has left a nasty taste in my mouth. Clicked on the Buy Tickets link on the London Freeze website and it took me to ticketmaster where, once you've selected the day you want, you get the option to choose a special offer price for £26.99 rather than £29.99 - wow that really is one special offer
Anyway 3 quid off is better than nothing so thanks to whoever it was who posted the code for this in another thread (can't find it now).
When you go through to the next page it states that there is a "Service Charge" of £3 per ticket, errrr, wtf?!! Ticketmaster is charging for the fact that I'm buying tickets off them? What is this service charge for exactly? It doesn't tell you anywhere, just states it in bold type: Service Charge £3 per ticket. It's a piss take.
So scroll down the page a bit and you come to the ticket delivery section where you are presented with 3 options which are basically have them sent to your email, your mobile or to your house. Now you'd figure they would probably deliver the tickets for free, considering they are forcing you to pay a £3 "service" charge right? Wrong! Theres actually another £2 charge for having the tickets delivered to your house via standard post. £2 for a standard letter you might think is a bit steep but at least they give you the option to have the tickets sent to you by email or to your mobile which should be cheaper right? Wrong! Every delivery method has the same price of £2!
I could be wrong but I was under the impression that it was free to send emails? What kind of business model do Ticketmaster employ? Is it the 'screw your customers over with outrageous unjustified extra costs' model? What a joke! The fact that they have monopolised this market is an extremely bad thing. There is no alternative, other than buying on the gate.
So I start off thinking I'm going to get my tickets for £26.99 each cause of the discount but in the end they are costing £31.99. Ok so it's an extra £5, admittedly not a fortune but does the principal of this really get to anyone else? The event organisers should not use Ticketmaster in the future or at the vary least should offer an alternative which doesn't involve hidden costs that make no sense. Then again I'm sure their main concern is maximising their profit rather than putting on an event which promotes snowboarding and gives fans in this country the opportunity to see something like this.
I guess this shouldn't be a surprise to me really considering the event is sponsored by that well known snowboarding company LG |

| Yeah I agree. £3 isn't a really that much of a special offer. |

The price of using the 'service' that Ticketmaster provides should be paid for by the event not the customers. It should be a cost of running the event that is taken out of the gross profits.
The bill should not be footed to the people that are supporting the event by paying for tickets. It is the mentally that you have to pay for the privilege to be able to pay for your tickets that is so wrong and what I personally have an issue with.
The organisers of the event and the sponsors took the decision to use ticketmaster, therefore they are directly to blame. |

Unfortunately events like this have to have a corporate sponsor as snowboarding/ski companies just do not have the money to bankroll something of this size. Without sponsorship of this type, the event wouldn't happen. |

| I dont dissagree but youre shouting at the wrong people. Every single event in the uk that is booked through ticketmaster is charged this way, thats every concert, sports match, west end show, its always been like that. |

Apologies, I didn't mean to come across like I was shouting at anyone, realise the original post was a massive rant! I have booked other stuff from Ticketmaster before and don't get me wrong the hidden costs annoyed me then but with this it seems to have gotten to me a little bit more. I guess it's cause it's to do with something I'm really into that it annoys me so. That and the fact I've been trying to save money for the last few months and am therefore loath to part with my cash.
Anyway end of anti corporate rant, hopefully the event will be a good do and a bit of fun. Is anyone aware of what time the Forum or Against 'em and the Grenade team vid will be premiered? |

I bought the 4 day pass and i felt it was definitely worth it.
I paid 34.99 to see the enemy at Brixton...
You gotta see this as a festival or a gig as well as a Snow event and in my opinion i would pay a lot more than 59.99 to see Cypress Hill and some sick snowboarding on the same day.
Sounds to me the jobs a good un...
Me and my mates are doing the Rock Up Gear Up Win thing on Sunday just for a laff anyways! Legends! |

1. Why should it be purely a cost of running the event? ticketmaster provides a service both to the event, AND to the attendees. It gives us a safe, secure place to buy tickets from - rather than sending our credit card numbers to an unknown company run by 3 snowboarders, which may go bust and never actually put on the event.
2. How do you know that the price hasn't been absorbed by the event? Perhaps they would have priced the tickets at £36, but instead priced them at less than that, to account for the ticketmaster charges. Ie. they've forgone revenue, in order to save you from being chraged more on top. |
