I was trying helmets on today at snow & rock, found one that fitted perfectly, was nice and light and low profile. Then i realised it was for juniors.

But it fit perfectly, so is there any reason why i shouldn't wear a helmet intended for juniors?

I wouldn't have thought there would be a reason why you couldn't use a juniors. I think the main thing is it fits you.

The best thing to do ask the people in the shop about it.

I had the same, found an awesome helmet with a plane on it Embarassed but it was soo cool, and fitted like a dream!

It was a Large Junior.

I don't need a helmet so I didn't enquire, but I don't see the problem... Smile

I went to buy a helmet last week and my head is only little. I would have fit into some kids ones and the guy in TSA said it was fine. Didn't end up getting a kiddy one in the end as my head is a funny shape and it took a lot of shopping around for me to get one that fit right.

Is this an un-official Northern thread!?

I *think* LD Mountain Centre still give 10% discount if you're a member of the Freestyle club at Silksworth... Which I actually am!

But we don't posess membership cards or have magic rings so all they have is your word as a snowboarder.

If you choose to abuse this information you can clear you conscience by joining me on a Monday night between 7-9pm and sliding down a Dendix on your face.

What doesn't kill you.... Laughing

Hodude, the only thing i can think is that you may find that a junior helmet doesn't fir your goggles... so it might be worth taking them along and trying them with it before you buy Smile

Not ventured up to Newcastle centre yet - will have a lookie for it.

Snow and Rock was ok - may just wait till i get to Braehead....

SO whats the boarding options in the North East?
Dont fancy driving all the way to Castleford, not while my board is in Scotland anyway Very Happy

Re helmets - if it fits then get it. I remember going helmet shopping with one of my friends, he must have the biggest head in the world as nothing fitted him!

S+R have a decent selection of boards this season, and its still early, so more should be coming in.

all dry slopes up here... tiny one at whickham thorns, gateshead. Or a much bigger one in Sunderland at Silksworth. Both slopes have small snowboard shops too.

Couple of hills over in Weardale in the winter, Allendale, and Allenheads, which might get about 10-15days in a good winter.

indoor snow domes have been muted, one in Northumberland, and one at Gateshead Stadium, but i'll believe it when i see it.

Otherwise a little further up to your neck of the woods would be cairngorm, nevis etc.

I try to go cas when i can, its about 90mins drive from Newc. You can still go to cas, and just demo a board from TSA instead of using a hire board.
