<rant>

Just back from MK (Sunday) and I've vowed not to go - by choice - back to the place. Man, it sucks. And sucks it does. Half the slope again cut off, no lifties looking after the bottom poma's, snow all chopped up tremendously, deep cavernous gullies at the bottom (which I'm sure you could fall into and never be seen alive again...)

MK is getting worse and worse. Bits of plastic sticking up from the snow, no-one looking out when little kids (bless!) fall off the poma and get dragged with a look of terror on their faces up the slope. Huge icey patches at the top. Terrible music, bad lighting and on and on...

Chocka full of people, the bloody tiny - and wet - cubicles, no spaces...terrible snow...

I know I would rather drive an extra hour just to ride at CAS which has far friendlier lifties, far far better snow, a spacious feeling and not crumbling to the ground...and the snow is better to boot! Oh, and did I mention the snow was good?

grrrrr nash nash grrr grind-of-teeth grrr!

</rant>

Yeah the snow was superb on Friday, couldn't have asked for better snow for the run up to the airbag.

That might explain why in a big poster right on view at reception it read that half the slope is closed today because of an airbag event...two full days after the event happened. Sloppy....

I went over to the cafe to check to see if indeed the airbags were out...but no, just half the slope closed off for tobogganing.

So no change then...

Still ranting and raving on... Wink

I used to be a regular at MK & Cas, and I must say, Cas is much more consistent than MK.. on a good day MK can be awesome, but on a bad day, you have just wasted time and money Sad

I was impressed by the slope staff at MK on Thurs/Fri. Maybe it's just because the LG Tour was in town, but they pulled out all the stops for us.

I'd heard rumours of the snow being slow and crap, but they built one of the biggest kickers we've had so far and the run in was sweet.

I had my first indoor snowdome experience on Saturday at MK and I really enjoyed it. Half of the left hand side slope was closed for kiddies and there were some icy patches but I was just happy to be out there. The pomas were stopped quite promptly when people fell off during the time that I was there.

Slope was poor today, we rode 4-6pm, wont ride at that time again, was obvious the slope had be bashed all day long and we got the tail end of it all Sad The slope closed for an hour at 6 and they had the plough out to dress the slope. Will make sure I ride after 6pm.

Still had a pretty good session though, our first time riding outside of our lessons Smile

It's all about managing expectations. I had a great time on Thursday afternoon, but I was hitting the airbag free of charge for two hours Wink Having said that the run in was a bit sticky in patches and I know what you mean about the crevasses at the bottom Laughing All good fun though.

Was there Sunday morning and all was good. Apart from being on the busy side, the snow was good, the lifts were aken care of. Cas and MK have differnet issues, due to the columns.

At times I've found Cas very choppy and ice patched in places after a park night. Swings and roundabouts I feel, you can catch either place on a bad day but most of the time MK is more then ok. I really like the variable terrain there each time you go.

Don't write the place off based on a bad day.

We've been visiting MK a lot over the summer and I'd say Sunday's snow was pretty good (was there 1 to 3pm) - have seen it a lot worse and have had to get a refund on one occasion. The only thing I didn't like was the number of skiers (where the hell did they come from? lol) and lift queues (skiers - please use all the queuing spaces)

Had a really fun session.

i think unfortunatly youv just got to think:

its Sinthetic snow.
n a man made construction.
ITS A BLOODY MIRACLE YOUR SNOWBOARDING IN ENGLAND.

On a mountain youll have days where its slussy or icy and tbh with snowboarding you have to be flexable, i think the lifts can be a bit sketchy but it would cost more for Mk to pay people to constantly man the lifts which in return would result would mean it would cost more to use the slope.

CAS does have better snow most times but mk has some better feautures, If you look at some of the dryslopes around the UK they are in dire need of help and i think a few bits of ice or half the slope closed off isntr the worst thing thats happened in the sport.
