right, Im going out 4 my first season on the 28th of november as a chalet host and have been wondering how much equipment is necessary and how much is just good if u have it.

I already have bought a board, bindings, a dakine high roller, bonfire venture snowboard pants and will be buying a bonfire jacket of some description

Boots - better 2 buy here or out there??

Backpack - is this quite essential?? are they worth getting coz of the board carry options? or is that more 4 back country type tings

Camera case's - Any recomendations??

Any other essential stuff i may need??

Boots aare really important, get the ones that are the most comfortable cus you can have the best board and the best bindings suited to you and the boots can ruin your whole ride... I dunno where you're going so I'm goign to say it doesn't matter where you buy though I'd recommend sticking to your indy shops if possible.

I'd get a bag. Just nice to take a small one up the hill cus you can stick your jacket in it or something if it gets hot during the day and just wear a hoody. If you got a big ass camera like the slrs then getting a bag catered specially to protect those is very useful (have a look on the forums theres a couple threads ont hem). If you got a small camera then just go to currys/micro anvika/dixons and go see what they've got case wise, dont think cases will vary much in terms of features...

If you're taking your own gear, then i'd suggest getting a scraper, a cheap iron from argos or something, and an edge tool to take care of your board. It's a lot cheaper if you service your board yourself, course if you get massive gouge then you can take it to the store but for everyday waxing/tuning etc its better to do it yourself imo. I'd also say take some thermals, mountains can be nice and sunny one day and brutally cold the next. If you're a relatively new snowboarder then i'd also suggest getting wristguards, helmets, maybe impact shorts as well... You'll thank me when you fall and slam your ass on a rock or sumin Very Happy

Wow...so that's a mixed bag of questions then.

Because there's the "first time boarding" advice which is protection, protection, protection - gloves, wrist guards at a minimum (may be part of gloves), helmet, impact shorts of some sort. Then kneepads if you like, and elbow guards and back board if you're going nuts in the park.

Then there's the holiday advice which is boots, pants and jacket, beanies, googles, rucksack - boots being the most personal item you want to get them before you go as you'll wear them 8 hours a day on holiday (let alone a season) so they have to fit. Goggles you'll need but consider lighter tint for flat light days (instead or in addition to a darker pair) - you're a boarder now so no gay skier sunglasses. Rucksack could be anything but consider a water carrier in it. Camera case depends on camera (check the other threads going on about SLRs if you are serious).

Then there's the season advice....which I can't help with. There are previous threads on it, about how many boards you need to take, what other kit, more pants, another jacket etc?

P.S. You've done the boots and board a bit back to front, so you'll need to take your bindings with you when you look for boots, to check that they fit nicely.

I've got a dakine heli pack which I use everyday for work but once in a while on the mountain. Its a good bag and no it doesn't come with a bladder.

About £25 inc postage seems to be the going rate online. I'm currently looking for one as I just bought the 08/09 Heli pack last week! Bag was £41, but the 16L Pro one is £50.

You sound like you've got the same compulsive disorder that I do - where you just keep having to by stuff Wink

http://www.freezeproshop.com/acatalog/O ... GGAGE.html

£40.49 for the Heli Pack, and £49.49 for the Heli Pack Pro 16L. Next day delivery, and it was only about £2.99. I bought a heap of stuff - couldn't resist!!
