Hi guys, I'm currently organising a trip with some mates and I really really need your advice...
I'm sure many of you will have heard of the snow train, travelling from London via Paris to the Alps but as I have never visited the Alps before I'm a little unsure which resort to choose as my final destination. The options are:
Valmorel
Les Menuires
Val Thorens
Meribal
Courcheval
La Plagne
Les Arcs
Tignes
Val D'Isere
La Rosiere
Sorry for the long list but i really have no idea, I've tried reading up on them but it's just no good. Have any of you guys visited these places and if so could you give me a few positives (or negatives) about the resort? |

heya
i went on the snow train this year and went to La Plagne i would recommend it but then i havent been to any of the other resorts on your list so..
if you've read up on them then you'll know La Plagne has a halfpipe and a good park too 
i suppose it also depends wot level you are...la plagne has pretty much something for evryone but i would say slightly more aimed at the 'less expert' people amongst us like myself haha

| cheers dude...yeah we're looking for intermediate stuff mostly but some beginner stuff just to chill out on when we're tired. night life is also important to us and cheap n cheerful accommodation. |

| La Plagne is a good beginner/intermediate resort. The nightlife is decent, but not mind-blowing. I'd go with Meribel. The pistes are almost as easy as La Plagne and the nightlife is amazing. |

| Yup. Courch and Val D are more expensive and spotted with unsavory people. Plus the terrain is more challenging than in LAP or Meribel. |

Les Arcs and stay in 1800.
Meribel is ok for (French) nightlife, so long as you don't mind being surrounded by ra-ra rugger types in Dicks T Bar. You'll
also struggle to get cheap digs there too.
Great terrain mind. |

| I`m intending going with my 11 yr old son so nightlife`s not a big pull for me but a decent meal in a nice atmosphere is, as is a short transfer from the train so all info is welcome ! |

| I'm a big fan of Les Arcs, but the terrain can be a bit daunting for beginners. La Ros might be a good choice as it's quiet, has easy pistes, and the food in La Thuile as fantastic. |

I'm now stuck between Meribel and Les Arcs lol. all the comparison websites are too vague and polite.
If you have experience of these two resorts, could you guys compare them for me? main points are beginner/intermediate slopes, freestyle parks, shops/restaurants/nightlife, accommodation, amount of queuing
it would seem from accommodation prices that les arcs is considerably cheaper than meribel, but is there any considerable difference in the overall experience? is there anything about meribel that warrants its higher costs? |

Ah yes but who ever said doing the right thing and taking the moral high ground was gonna be cheap?!
Snow train is like buying organic. Much better for you, much better for the environment and makes you feel morally more satisfied, but f**k me its expensive!! |
