Post subject: how long do boots last

i ride about 3 hours a week.
how long should i expect a pair of boots to last, and how would i know when they are ready to be changed?

100 days is normal for most boots. If they're DC then you'll be lucky to get 30.
Your boots may still look pretty good after 100 days, but the padding and the rigidity (thus the support) will have been lost. This is especially true with half sizes as just like with ski boots most manufacturers use the same shell and add padding. |

| Depends. If you're riding domes and dry slopes then they'll see less moisture and last longer. Let's say 600-800 hours to be safe. |

cool thanks. so i should get a year in a dome and a few weeks holiday froma pair of boots.
not too bad. a pair a year. |

| I've had the same boots for over two years, and I ride on average about 16 hours a week, 28 hours a week for the past few months, and they are still doin the job! |

| done like 500 hours in my f22s on snow and still doing fine... hoping to maybe get 40days on snow out of em. |

| My f20s are pushing a hundred days on snow now (including a day hiking Pen Y Fan). I've had to replace the laces, and they're starting to lose their waterproofyness, but they're still useable (and very comfortable). |

Salomon boots are amazing. I had 120 days (cheeky me) on my old ones and they still looked new. I sold them and they're stil going strong a couple years later. I'm on new F24s again, what a boot! |

Not too sure about the cheaper Solomons, seems everytime i go Chill Factore and borrow them there ripped, ones i had on saturday both soles where hanging off but hire man said there fine when you have bindings keeping them together lol.
Whats the brand that lasts the longest? |

rental boots are bound to be a bit shabby and they aren't gonna use the top end ones I wouldn't have thought. Again yeah salomons really nice and comfy, if your feet are the right shape. Will prob get some more of them cuz mine are a gettin a bit soft as sh1t after a 3 seasons, as you would expect.
As for brands that last the longest?, depends how well made they are, the materials used, how and where you use them and how much you use them. Theres no definitive answer |

| I got two whole seasons (and we are talking 100+ days per season of riding at around 6 to 8 hours a day) spread over 3 to 4 years out of my old burton boots and if i could have found some of the right type of glue could have got till the end of my last season out of them .... but i could not, so i bought some new ones, and the difference between knackered old yet still ridable boots is very noticeable, suffice to say i wont be leaving it so long again between purchasing new boots |
