So I was having a glance through the burtongirls blogs over lunch, and came across this little gem that gave me a good chuckle.

http://burtongirls.com/snowboarding/fancy-pants/

My favourite bit... "Yes, the Sugartown pant is part of the women’s collection and yes that means Shaun shreds in women’s pants."

roflmao. Laughing

They'll be rolling them up and not wearing socks next.

It's a slippery slope.

Surely womens pants accommodate for wider hips at a shorter length?

So are we saying Shaun White DOESN'T rock his own Shaun White collection that Burton hold in such high regard they slap a high price tag on ?

Why not Shaun, is it not good enough stuff for you to actually be seen in?

Did you not think about designing skinny pants when you put your collection together ?

Sadly not, there are minor differences but none that really make a positive impact. I am a bit of a short ass anyway, but even then compared to regular clothing pants are generally really long. They have to try and cater for everyone in one set of pants including the tall lasses.

Shaun white does what Shaun white wants. He's a money making machine and can do as he likes. I he started on crack burton would endorse it

His clothing style has changed quite a lot in the last year or so, so i guess next seasons White Collection will change too - or perhaps the season after that, depends on how many seasons in advance the designs are.

I swear i remember reading something from one of the designers at westbeach, she said they work 2 years a head or something? Makes sense i guess, and explains why companies seem to follow the same trends as every other each year - in terms of brightness/pattern complex. If it was all done at the last minute, there would be far more variety i think!

Still, ill be interested to see where he takes his Supply Co. next - any word on the length of his burton contract?

Pro riders never use or wear the stuff thats in the shops now, they are always wearing next seasons gear. They do this because lots of photoshoots are done this season that dont get used till next season, if they wore stuff thats new now all next season magzines would be advertising stuff thats not available anymore.

My frieds was working at westbeach last year and she was designing the 2013/14 range.

They are part of the white collection, just the women's part.

I remember some guys buying womens trousers when skinny jeans started to come in and retailers hadn't caught on yet. This must have been around 2003.

Im hanging on for loose fitting to come around again so I can get out my 90s trousers.

If snowboarding companies are planning 2 years in advance it seems they should have caught up with high street fashion a little while ago.

Disclaimer: I'm not in the skinny kegs club.

Possibly that white cars came into fashion around 07/08 here in the UK and people seem to be still sorta following that style 4/5 years on?

I'm just guessing here..

bit slow on the uptake nick.

its a white car, with black wheels. both fads, both have lasted quite a while, but fads nonetheless. the skinny pants thing has definitely started to die down a bit now that people have started to realise they look a bit silly really.

I wouldn't know since i have no interest in cars.

Im not sure how you can say its a fad thats started to slow down since more companies are making them this year and more people wearing them than ever before?

Bit slow on the uptake?

Agreed. Is fashion leading Shaun or shaun leading fashion? Obviously some folk will feel it validates their pornstar / russian pimp clothing choices. My personal opinion (note: not up for influencing) is that skinny pants on a snowboard is like big fat ugg boots on a 20 year old girl- if you're skinny legged and blindingly talented (ie the flying tomato tm) then you are allowed, if you are a minger with no talent but a fetish for buying fashion mags touting a dress sense unsuited to your bodyshape (aka talent level) , I reserve the right to shake my head and laugh out loud at you.

People were riding in leather jackets and tie dyed tight pants years before he jumped on the band wagon. Volcom have been making that gear for ages.

Also only people who are good snowboarders are allowed to dress as they like, everyone else should dress the same as you until they get good enough that you deem them suitable to follow their own fashion?

I guess you live buy your own rules? ie...your fat, ugly, sh1t on a snowboard, but at least you dress inconspicuously Razz

It is a good point - I saw people crusing through the Whistler parks in skintight jeans etc when I was there in 2006 so its not exactly new, just kinda trendy at the mo!

But on the other hand, it is a fact (Whether its a good thing or a bad thing) that generally you will only get very good snowboarders who dress at the extremes of skinnyness or bagginess. I think its just human nature that you won't dress in a way to mark you out from others unless you have the talent to back it up...

I meant to say skinniness or bagginess.

I would defo laugh at the baggies, although the best thing to laugh at is either camp when they have their trousers halfway down their thighs! Just wait till you watch them try and climb some stairs, then you'll probably wet yourself!
