back hand to nose of the board on a tailslide is a crail...

I do them on my skateboard... back leg nearly straight and your front leg almost in your chest.

HARD.

I know what they are dude, need to know the technique for getting them together on a snowboard. Hard = eating ah*t for a long time. Easier on a snowboard or a skateboard you think? Other half is thinking easier on snow.

Post subject: RE: Crailslides
haha just saw your pics, yeah got loads on a skateboard...all over the place how to's and all sorts but nothing snowboard specific. Maybe they don't get done on snow???

Post subject: RE: Crailslides
are you gonna be doing it on a box? rail? Q/pipe? I'm pretty sure they can be done though!

like a blunt but do the grab might be the way to start learning them, ita really hard trick to balance cos your so far into the ramp and you have to pull on the nose to balance them.
yellowlala - Mar 01, 2010 - 10:28 AM
Post subject:
Thinking box. Not sure how that'd work, or what it's look like. Understand on a coping, like pipe but on a box...can't visualise what i'd need to do to approach it.

Want snowboard pics of someone doing it on a box. There's the big, low, DC butterbox at Hemel, or table top (on the flat) at MK that's real low and wide.

I'm sure I've seen someone do this in one of the Think Thank movies. Can't remember which one though ???
passtherizla - Mar 01, 2010 - 10:34 AM
Post subject:
fort it to be a true crail it'd need to be right on the tail...

pop frontside 180 catch the nose woth back hand and push your tail down to teh obstacle.

might be worth trying likle a tail tap first on a barrel? just to get the feel of the ollie and the grab?
yellowlala - Mar 01, 2010 - 10:43 AM
Post subject:
Can get the nose up, and get the grab seperately but with a F/s 1 travelling fakie on the feature, that what you mean?

Maybe practice the grab and slide on the flat?...so I'm not gonna bash myself up too much til I've got the extension right??? Maybe.

Cheers Ace...I shall start trawling through some clips.

Post subject:
pop a front 180 but stop the rotation at 90.... grab the nose and pull up towards you pushing the back foot out at the obstacle. is what i meant.
yellowlala - Mar 01, 2010 - 11:34 AM
Post subject:
Yep, yep get what you mean now.
passtherizla - Mar 01, 2010 - 11:57 AM
Post subject:
I've seen people do backside ones too.... GNAR.
yellowlala - Mar 01, 2010 - 12:26 PM
Post subject:
mmmmm shexy. I shall see what I can do to get this one up and running.
passtherizla - Mar 01, 2010 - 12:31 PM
Post subject:
i reckon you could try them on the flat as you suggested earlier... pop onto your tail and grab.

can't hurt... I'm gonna try them too! we should post photos of our efforts Wink

Yep yep...I'll shred this week although may have to wait til my muscles are less achy as bailed so much getting my 3's together on Sat night...got there in the end so was all worth it.

See how I get on at MK on the flat on wed morn perhaps. Should be less sore by the end of the week, fingers crossed Thurs night at MK should be good as long as they got the table top out. Awesome.

i'm not even sure i could reach the nose of the board Confused might give it ago tonight though Smile
yellowlala - Mar 03, 2010 - 01:07 PM
Post subject:
haha I can reach it, just don't think I can do it all together. Will give it a go tomorrow avo at Hemel though..just on the flat mind. Don't wanna be breaking my neck right off the bat. Let us know how you get on fella.
passtherizla - Mar 03, 2010 - 01:11 PM
Post subject:
yeah I can reach it out of a little kicker and it looks quite rad...

I just think that my weight is too far forward to get a slide on the tail...
yellowlala - Mar 03, 2010 - 02:28 PM
Post subject:
That's what I was worrying about...I can see the momentum up to a coping working the same as a grab but flat on a box?

Could the grab come from throwing your weight back (tail press style) or would the leg position make it something else?
passtherizla - Mar 03, 2010 - 02:50 PM
Post subject:
I reckon it'd have to be the gnarliest tail press i've ever seen but potentially yes... almost like a blunt with the grab...so that your body is more upright and the board will be at about 50 odd dergrees.
yellowlala - Mar 03, 2010 - 03:42 PM
Post subject:
hmmm many many stumbles to get there, gotta be worth the try though.

couldnt be arsed to ride last night! ended up watching the football instead!

i'll give it ago friday night at Mk thought for sure!

Not sure if its all that different from a seat belt grab off a kicker?...
yellowlala - Mar 04, 2010 - 02:15 PM
Post subject:
Sliding it on a box though dude. Off a kicker it'd be a Crail Grab, the Crailslide makes it a very very different prospect....or do you think it'd be a breeze?
yellowlala - Mar 04, 2010 - 02:18 PM
Post subject:
Lke this if you ride goofy.
passtherizla - Mar 05, 2010 - 07:44 PM
Post subject:
yeah thats what I was saying that its gonne be hard to get the pressure on th etail to balance the slide look at the dudes feet...
yellowlala - Mar 06, 2010 - 09:16 AM
Post subject:
What I mean is leaning the other way (as if tail pressing) and going for the grab...would that count?
passtherizla - Mar 06, 2010 - 10:55 AM
Post subject:
i reckon it would count...

but you might have to move your bindings closer together I've just tried it on the carpet. not a good look.

1min 33 secs in this vid shows him very nearly do a crail stall well he grabs it with his front hand, but culd hav easily grabbed it with his back hand!

yellowlala - Mar 06, 2010 - 11:07 AM
Post subject:
Yep totally get the grab when in air...just how to get there without that upward momentum. Riding Tues day so will try it on the flat then. Can get the grab on the carpet when lent back to tail but not when weight forward.
passtherizla - Mar 06, 2010 - 11:16 AM
Post subject:
did you watch the 2nd vid?
yellowlala - Mar 07, 2010 - 04:03 PM
Post subject:
Sweet, that's what I was after but think I've ruled out being able to do that on a box...would only work in air I think.
passtherizla - Mar 07, 2010 - 06:40 PM
Post subject:
it could be done but i reckon it'd have to be done as like a travelling crail tail tap,,,
yellowlala - Mar 07, 2010 - 11:43 PM
Post subject:
The image I now have of it is even more sickedness!!! Like it even more.

if you pull it off how it looks in my head its some mad steezy sh1t.

as this is vaguely related, just wondered if theres a name for grabbing your tail with your lead hand, across your body?

have taken to doing these on 5-0s sometimes, quite fun!
passtherizla - Mar 09, 2010 - 01:13 PM
Post subject:
remmy stratton or seatbelt grab...
yellowlala - Mar 09, 2010 - 05:23 PM
Post subject:
Yep ^^^ what he said ...Seatbelts...they do look nice on the press.
yellowlala - Mar 10, 2010 - 03:51 PM
Post subject:
Had a pop today on the flat...it's really hard to work out where the balance point would be. Reckon it might have to be B/S boardslide stylee.
passtherizla - Mar 10, 2010 - 06:56 PM
Post subject:
loose-ish straps might be the key...
yellowlala - Mar 10, 2010 - 08:16 PM
Post subject:
Can get to the grab whilst sliding both reg and switch with a little weight over the lead foot and also the other way, with a little weight over the trailing foot.

Can't work out from that where you would pin your weight though, sliding sideways is fine but on a feature...stuck. What I do know is you slow the funk down with that grab.
passtherizla - Mar 11, 2010 - 11:00 AM
Post subject:
go faster in the first place? i still reckon the best way would be a gnarly blunt with added grab action Wink

get a photo up maddie!!!!!

Had no cameras out with us...will try and get some tonight. I have my chuck buddy on overtime trying to work out various postures and ways in. I'm thinking after discussions with my freestyle guru J...cab 1 in...press...1 out.

Nick one...or make one, Blue Peter style. Loo roll holder, sticky back plastic...done. While you're about it make a papier mache Tracy Island for your new Chuck Norris to jib.
