Post subject: New Board - Which one ???
Ok guys been directed here by someone from another forum.
I've been boarding for about 10 years now so I can get down the mountain pretty well. I always have a little play in the park but can never do anything more than grabs and 180's.
I've got a Burton Baron 164 board which I love for piste smashing but its just no good in the park so am selling it to fund a new more park orientated board the question is "WHICH ONE" theres so blooming many out there.
Im looking for around £300-£350 and ideal available from snow and rock as a mate started work there 2 days ago so hoping for some good discount
I was looking at DC PBJ (its so cheap), DC MLF, K2 Darkstar, Ride DH, have been told about the Never Summer Evo R (its a bit pricey).
Just would like to get your ideas on it. I've got Burton Cartel bindings but thinking I might sell them with the board to make it easier.
I'm going to Hemel Snow dome in Dec so will be able to try a few boards out.
Your thoughts would be great.
Cheers Elliott

i'm after a new board too, so went and got myself a copy of the whitelines buyers guide.
There's tons of stuff in there and might give you a few other options too.

You'll need a wide, so NS is out as I don't think there are any Revolvers left...
Darkstar Wide or DH Wide would be good. Not sold on DC as the flex patterns are a bit whack and I'm not sold on their quality.

i am also 6'5" about 85kg with size 12s and i also used to have a baron but recently got a new board because i wanted to start doing abit of freestyle. very strange i know.
the DC PBJ did cross my mind and also the Ride crush but in the end i got a 159W ride DH because i still wanted an all mountain board rather than a pure park board and i like it a lot.

Your best bet would be to actually go into TSA or Snow and Rock and speak to one of the staff in there. They can then show you the boards they feel would suit you.

I've also got a Baron - it's too cumbersome, I'm only 6'2" - and was looking for a new board this season. I don't really need a wide so I was looking at the Yes boards or the Bataleon Goliath. I fancy gettin me some of that rocker s**t.
But I don't know if they do wider boards for you. Sorry, not much help.

Winterfunman who are you ? Which forum do I no you from ?
Hey Simongoessideways hows it going.
Ok I have been into snow and rock my gf's brother started there last week so getting a board from there is ideal.
But from someone on another forum who sounds like he knows what hes talking about the only board in the snow and rock range he'd go for is the Nitro Team series in a wide. (apparent this guy has been on the slopes over 500days in the last 5 years and has ridden pretty much everything going)
Bornextreme I didnt think they did the PARKstar in a wide ???
De... the Yes boards I like the look of but are they in the £300-350 range ?

They do the wide DH boards in snow and rock but with size 11 id of thought you could get away with standard width as long as you were riding a wide stance with wide angles

I'm a size 11 and am on a Yes 158 this season, pretty wide stance set at +15-15 and I dont suffer heel or toe drag. Set me back £315 from TSA at the demo day with 10% off

Yes mate, they do the Parkstar wide.
http://k2snowboarding.com/boards/parkstar-wide
This Parkstar is one of 4 boards i can't decide whether to have myself this season. I rode it at the board test in May out in Austria and didn't want to give it back. Its amazing Park, piste and powder.

Ok cool like the look of that Parkstar in Wide, do you think i'd get away with a 157 in the Parkstar wide (maybe if i lost some weight LoL) love the lime green.
Ok so list of boards to try:
DC PBJ
DC MLF
K2 Parkstar
Ride DH
Nitro Team Series
All in as wide and short as I can get away with...
Going to see a new shop thats open up in brighton about the Never Summer Revolver aswel tomro see what they'd give me for my baron in part ex

157 is too small and 85kg if you get back to 80kg you should be ok....ish
Personally i don't do the whole small board thing. I like speed and powder and don't see the point in riding small boards unless you only are a total park rider.
The DH as an amazing board. I've riding one for the past 2 years now. Look at the DH2 as well. The lowrise rocker works really well on the whole mountain and park.

Im more like 81kg so can probably get away with a slightly smaller one. Yeah I'm going to try and see the park this quite alot year, I desperately want to get 360's sorted they are the bane of my life every year I go.

I'd go for the 160W personally. If you can find one that is. They have sold stupidly well!! The 3cm won't make it any harder to get that 360, but you'll appreciate it building speed on the way to the kicker

Cool cheers, born extreme
I went to surface 2 air today had a look around they're getting someone to call me who knows about snowboards as they guy in there only knew about kite surfing.
Saw the Parkstar seems nice, the guy said they've sold loads of them already.
Trying to get a Never Evo to demo but not holding my breath

My brother has a baron too, he loves it but has the same problem when it comes to freestyle and jibbing. I'd recommend a Ride Machete 161w, It's going to be really playful with the lowrize rocker but this board has plenty of pop too. It didn't win this years Transworld 'Good Wood' award for nothing

I liked the look of the machete and the nitro team series. If you are tempted by the team series, check out boardridersguide.com, they have last years at a snip over £200 as they're on sale and have a further 10% off with scuk membership. I looked at the nitro team gulwing in snow and rock in hemel, and that looked sweet. They have demo's of the dh and the team series, so if you're there and riding anyway has got to be worth the £15 to demo them both.

Well guys tried a few boards out and ended up really liking the Ride DH, only problem is I HATE the graphic on it, they really dont go with any of my bindings/boots etc.
Right pain in the arse, trying to get hold of a DH2 or 2.3 but doubt it as there not many made, bad times.
