Post subject: SCUK Summer Bash - 3rd to 5th July 2009
After much ummming and errring, it seems the only date we can do the event is over the weekend of 4th July. For those that have been before, expect the usual. For those that haven't, come and join in the fun.

Place holder here: www.snowboardclub.co.uk/events-sb09.html
Details coming soon.

well there is usually a lot of drinking, swearing, playing with axe's/fire, and power sliding cars around the field.....it might not be the best place for kids to hang around!

Err, not quite!!

Unfortunately, I work a shift system that has all my time off rostered into the shift pattern. I don't have any floating holidays to take and have to miss out on loads of stuff like this. but on the bright side, I get 10 days off every 5 weeks, which is nice. what kinda skate park is it? indoor/outdoor private/public. And do they allow bmx's, if so anyone object if i bring ma bmx? Had a few accidents when i was a wood pusher, plus it felt weird so i diverted. Tried blading, but ended up breaking my arm in 6 places, plus in scotland its like "whats harder than blading? telling your parents your gay" haha, its frowned upon. Its no offence, but yeah back to original point, anyone object if i brought ma bmx?

there are few options for skateparks.. there is a great concrete park in coleshill about 10 miles from tamworth, and even better one at Kings Norton, fradley park is ok but its tarmac which is ok for you dirty dirty BMXers... the mini @ curdworth is a bit too small for a bike though I would have thought...?

theres nothing too wee for a bike, ma mate who now rides for BSD can flair a 1.5/2.0 ft quatre/rainbow thing. Im not up on technical names for objects within the park, my motto is if u can hit it try it then give the most vauge description.
But yeah it will all depend on space in the car wether i bring it. But nice one. A wee game of football might be safer for me, well il even break something playing that.

We have a choice of fields secured for the Summer Bash. Same one as last year and another one from the same farmer, which might be a bit boggy if we're in for a spot of rain. We'd be sooo unlucky if it rains this year with all the great weather we've been having recently! We'll announce the final field the week before and sort directions as usual.

We also have Dragon Lodge, Santa Cruz, Westbeach, Blueskin and Burton all providing some prizes for the event. We asked for quantity rather than quality so everybody should go home with some with something.

Remember we're going to stick all the SCUK membership cards we can find in a big hat and pull out one winner, who'll get to come on the Winter Bash for free. Don't forget those cards people and it's not too late to sign up as a member either... 'cos even if you don't win you get a great discount on Saturday's riding at Tamworth.

I like to use the word "supported" rather than "sponsored". Sure there's gonna be lots of prizes, but we've specifically asked for lots of stuff rather than say one board. The more the merrier, which is what the Bash is all about. Whilst there's normally around 100 that turn up most seem to be too drunk to ride and as most of the SnowDome regulars come along it's no too busy.

SnowDome members don't get any additional discount, but SCUK members who pre-book get the SnowDome members' rates... if that makes sense. Also a good opportunity to try and use the free session voucher you get when you join SCUK.

ROBster likes "Hip Hip" (eh Nick?), but we'll probably have some open iDeck sessions... it's a long weekend.

where did this there is no fire come from?!!

There has always been a fire since the 3rd summer bash, however that year it got out of hand with lots of fires! It ended up with tents and land rover seats getting burnt!

So since then there has only been one fire allowed which is in a brazier provided by Dunx and co. This will be away form the tents and normally where everyone hangs out. (may be different this year depends on how good rob music is! Razz)

so to clear this is up:

Don't feel pressured to drink! I wont be during the day i reckon, probs go shopping and to the dome for a shower at one point like last year... just probs wont be snowboarding so i'd rather drink in the bar.

Mollie deffo wont be drinking anyway, she's far too young...gotta wait until she's 18 Razz

There's a big ASDAs in Tamworth so i wouldn't worry to much about the perishables.

Deffo bring the hammock though, you'll instantly get a load of friends from that!

Because I dont know anyone!

I tell a lie there could be as many as 3 people i know that said they would go to this. Whether they actually go is of course something entirely different.

Don't worry, i don't know anyone either so you won't be the only one feeling like a gatecrasher!!

I'm quite happy to pick anyone up from the station that needs a lift. I'll probably be turning up late afternoon, although i'll probably get caught in the traffic.

I'd appreciate a lift to the dome on Saturday if anyone's got room, I don't often get let out for the weekend so want to make the most of it!!! Beer Beer

If anyone is north of tam I could come pick you up and drop you back home...my mate's going to stay in london til monday so I don't need to go down to pick her up.

Oh meant to say as well that I can take 4 people in my car to the dome seeing how Dunx is going to put the boards in the van.

A big metal thing that fire wood goes in, like a stove! a few years ago there was an incident with some fire and some tents so since then all the fire is kept in one manageable place! No dont need to bring wood.......

Yes please! I'm a bit space limited this year as I only have the company mini-van and not the Soul Sports maxi-van.

The deal with the fire is that we have one central fire on the floor. I used to have a brazier, but my neighbour trashed it.

A single large fire reduces damage to the field and tents and acts as a focal point for larks. In the past, we've had multiple fires and it got way out of hand with tents damaged, a lot of things burnt that shouldn't have been (landrover seats and a stash of the farmer's old Triumph magazines - I know, some people) and as you might expect a very, very angry farmer. More importantly we had lots of little cliquey groups dotted everywhere which rather defeats the object of the weekend.

The forecast will change anyway, but even of there's showers it'll be warm! It's already changed from heavy showers, to light showers in a day.

All we need now is word from SnowDome on the chosen field.

They're always wrong anyway. Showers always seem to involve less rain than you expect. It'll be warm anyway and probably better than it being 30'C in the shade.
