Hey guy and gals.

I've not snowboarded for long but as everybody knows when you start you just can't stop. I'm starting to go quite a bit and am hitting Casvegas for atleast 2/3 hours a week. I've been looking at some boards but have found that, especially at TSA, boards are difficult to find in 150 sizes. I'm 5foot 10 and 70 kilo (11st) and all the calculators say i should be 150. All the 150 boards i can find i don't really like the look of and all the boards i do like the look of aren't avaliable in 150. So my question is how much difference does riding say a 149 or 151 make if i should be riding a 150?

Boards i've been looking at include the Evil Twin at 151, the Burton Dominant which is avaliable at 150 but not in TSA (i should probably say i'd like to get my board from TSA because of the opportunity to test them) and the Omatic Boron which is also in TSA but at a 151.

Any information you guys could provide me with would be greatly appreciated on my problem with sizing and also on any boards you could reccomend. If anymore information is needed please ask i'll provide Smile

Thanks alot,
Sam.

149 or 151 no difference in reality

you can put 3 different 151 boards (from different manufacturers) side by side and they'll all be different as there in not standard measuring point.

calcs are just a guide, read the spec of the board to confirm you fit into the characteristics of the board you like

look at the website of the store or the manufacturer

they will give you a list of various stats

board type ie freestyle freeride etc
loads of measurements..effective length, width's blah blah

and most interesting a suggested weight range..eg 70-85 kg's for a 157 etc etc

this is as good a starting point as any, then as you say, take the boards and demo at TSA.

have a good chat with the guys at TSA at Cas, they're good guy's and will point you in the right direction.

deffo test, especially the bataleon, triple base tech is great, but not everyones cup of tea

Also i have a problem as i weigh 69.89 approx kilo and most boards have weight to sizes in between such as the boron has 150:50-70kilo and 154: 55-80 kilo. Seeing as i'm very close to being over 70 should i think about going for a bigger board?

Sam, actually the opposite, if your mainly riding domes then go for the shorter board, it'll be more fun to throw around.

and it will be perfectly fine for on piste etc ect if you do a week away.

let us know what you get/narrow down to

On a side note, why is it that TSA don't seem to stock smaller sized boards? they only have a few 151's and rarely anything smaller.

supply and demand i guess...154-156 is probably the average so they stock a bucket of them

if you ask them i'm sure they'll get one from another store

take a look at http://snowboard-asylum.com/cgi-bin/psP ... 1,0,0,1|3|

i rode a mates a few months ago and it's a great fun board
