For a really small hill I would say Whitewater BC . Fun riding, no crowds, better for advanced riders

Depends on what you are looking for to make it the best. If you are after the best kickers then Banff wouldn't be the place.

Agree with lez_s, if steep freeriding go to kickinghorse...on a powder day its awsome

I suppose im just a maths geek to notice this, but see how they can manipulate a graph.
The difference in height between them doesnt work, differences go 167, 181, 88, 25, 306, 122.
The first jump is bigger than the second on the graph but not in the numbers.
The jump between whistler and fernie should be much smaller then the one between meribel and sunshine according to the numbers but isnt.

Before anyone says anything, yes i was bored!

Also with Fernie the two trips that I took in Feb I had to dodge puddles as the snow was melting, it may be an idea to research snowfall patterns.

Most resorts have got their benefits but if powder and long runs are what you like - check out revelstoke. Average of 40 -60 ft per season. It is the only inland temperate rainforest in the world due to the huge amount of snow it usually gets.

have a good trip.

were you thinking about a season?

i was in jasper on a course for 3 months last year, all our instructors were talking about revelstoke. It's supposed to be awesome.

i bagged myself 2 season passes for revelstoke at the snow show in london last weekend. Not sure if i'll get to use them though Sad.

Going to check if there any restrictions on them and then i'll be weighing up if i can use them myself for a couple of weeks or see if anyone else is interested in them.... Revelstoke website has them on at over $800 each!!!

Let me know if you are interested.

Yeah, I was thinking they'd done something funny with it; I was just about to post but you beat me to it. I love the way you have to read statistics very carefully. "Geek", I guess that means "numerate" in new money.

It's pretty pointless as most people ride in the top 2cm of whatever there is. Yes, there's a lot in Whistler and Fernie (even more across the valley from Whistler), but it consolidates fast and its wet stuff. Nothing wrong with that, but it's facile to just look at that and conclude anything in particular.

Agreed, went to Banff last season and went to Sunshine and then over to Lake Louise. Even went up in the helicopter and that was pretty amazing to say the least. Lake Louise hotel is pretty magical aswell when your looking across the lake at night.

Problem with Whistler and some of the larger well known resorts is your paying a lot of money for it, and is it actually worth the money you pay? depends but either way you should keep an open mind.

I plan on going back on 2010 as im going to Freestyle camp in avoriaz in april 09 so looking forward to that.

Very good point that, when i was in Fernie it was snowing one morning and I now recall how wet it was, didn't think about it at the time. Any further snow through the week compacted very quickly. So although it snows alot there, is the Pow really that good quality? Unless your there for the season you'll be lucky to see the best conditions.

Funny to see our graph being used to such good effect! We thought it highlighted pretty clearly an excellent reason for going to Fernie; and when you then factor in the amazing terrain there it is a hard resort to beat

you can print that graph off and stick some weed in it and smoke a fernie fatty

Sun Peaks, BC near Kamloops is definitly worthy of a mention!

Spent a fair bit of time there last year.
The snow there is perfect, always so powder-y.

There are many different types of terrain and so many runs!

It's good enough that the Austrian ski team use it as their training base as well!

Have a look and check it out if you are wanting somewhere different to try. I would definitly go back there!

If your a hard charger and are looking for challenging terrain.

Red Mountain, Rossland: Canadian Extreme ski held there every year. Canadians often name it the best extreme terrain in their publication. Plus, your a short ride from places like Whitewater.

Shames, Terrace: This place is out of the way but it averages more snow than Fernie had last year; 1200cm per year. The knock on it is that the "lift" resort is not very large. But if your experienced and want to do backcountry there is a world of opportunity that can make you piss yourself. There's quite a few pro riders that salivate over their next visit.
