Shameless self-promotion, yes. Couldn't see any forum rules/etc about this sort of thing so game on, eh...?
Two years in the making, www.boax.co.uk is now online providing high quality handmade headwear. Get in now before winter hits and I'm swamped with orders. Pompoms, visors, earflaps, tassels, you name it. You pick your pattern and colours, I'll take care of the rest.

There nice and if i had some money i would order one. One question though if i was to give my exact head size then would the hat be made to this size or would it be say a cm bigger to allow for more comfort?
BamBam_540 - Jul 01, 2008 - 09:10 PM Post subject: RE:
For the "fitted" style hats I make them to fit the size of your head comfortably but not tight. The loose style is slightly bigger and longer (you have to wear it tilted back slightly) and the baggy style is nice and roomy. I'm pretty sure if you just put your actual measurment down you'll be happy with the fit. If you really want extra room then please don't add on centimetres. Put your actual measurement and write a note for me to err on the big side.
Kap, got your payment, will get on it tomorrow. First web order .

so hope your quick.
they do look like some of the best hand crochets i have seen hell of a lot better than mine.
stiches look tight and clean.

Exactly. I know the stitch counts for each size.
Yeah it's just a little side thing just now. Only need enough orders to keep me doing 3-4 a week to keep me going.
Tomahawk - Jul 02, 2008 - 12:47 PM Post subject: RE: Re: RE:
thats good.
i just go with the the try it on couple of rows method. ha
good luck.
you ever tried double or triple threads? makes the process waaay quicker.

I've tried a LOT of combinations of wool and hook size and two strands of DK with a 5mm has worked out best. Triples end up a bit too chunky I think.

i like.....in fact just ordered two, hope they'll be sat at the office waiting for me when i get back to the UK at the end of the month...
I've been tempted to teach myself...but TBH really can't be arsed/too lazy/too busy..so a sensible priced fully customised option is excellent...good luck with the venture bambam too_low - Jul 06, 2008 - 09:46 AM Post subject:
so is it wool, cos i find wool sooooo friggin itchy, and also whats it like for keeping the heat in???
BamBam_540 - Jul 06, 2008 - 10:06 AM Post subject:
Not wool, it's acrylic yarn. I don't find it itchy at all and plenty warm.

i dont know any legit shreders who cant crochet themselves a hat.
while away for the winter with no money. crocheting is a premium way to pass the time
in NZ we had one tv channel, no internet, no cell phone signal, no house phone,
no night life with in a 20 min drive.
if some one came to our house they would of thought they stumbled in on a knitting convention.

by the sounds of things you will be doing it again in your house in leeds then, haha

Just giving this a bump up the board for an update, check out the site if you haven't already guys - there's been a bit of a redesign so it's looking even cleaner now. New logos on the site and the hats now too.
Stash pockets are now available inside baggy hats for keeping your hidables hidden.
Headbands are now available but not online yet - need to get a few more orders for them to have enough photos to get the order page made. Speciali introductory £8 base price on those.
T-shirts should be for available within the next few weeks.
Gift vouchers will be available in time for Christmas.
Pre-made beanies are being looked into in some nice colours.

Thanx BamBam_540, very good site, just ordered one, funny enough was just about to go down to covent garden for a new one, not getting up and away from this pc is a bonus for me...lol...and i'l certinly be intrested in a t-shirt, if you dont mind giving me a peek?... BamBam_540 - Sep 06, 2008 - 09:19 PM Post subject:
Perfect timing then. Another happy customer .
Here's some mock-ups for the t-shirt designs. These aren't final - still waiting on my printer getting back to me on colour availability and need to check the label is going to stitch onto the bottom nicely too. Probably looking at about £16 per shirt incluyding P+P, with £2 off if bought with a hat so previous customers: give me a shout about that if you want the cheap deal once they're online.
I'm probably going to stick with the two designs to start with but doing short runs of about 10 prints of each, then the next batch will be a different colour combo. So every shirt is limited edition. New logos will come with time I'm sure. Custom hoodies might even be a possibility in the future if my printer is up for it - pick your logo and the colours of the hoody and print and it gets custom made for you. This is just the start.

Trouble is, Boax beanies are like hat-crack! I've got one and now I want another one! The other half also wants one now! Oh god, it's gonna be an expensive habit! BamBam_540 - Nov 25, 2008 - 10:38 PM Post subject:

I'm about to re-activate the order page right now so get in there while you can!

Just got one of the pre-knitted ones - now in a dilemma as to whether to get a custom one too. Hmmm credit crunch vs more hats hmm...

Embrace the hat-crack! Your journey to the dark-side is nearly complete!
Far too many styles though! Choices choices! Its not that I am indecisive, its just I'm not sure! Bit like Nike ID, hours of fun designing!
