Now that the summer of discontent and neglect are upon us...... Did I say that!!! Mad

What I meant to say was 'Summer of Freestyle Love' at Snozone it was a pity to see yesterday morning some members of the Ski Race Team re-briefing recreational riders on where they can and cannot ride on the slope.

At MK yesterday morning (Sun) slalom poles were positioned from top to bottom of the left-hand slope and, half of the right-hand slope was closed for tobogganing - but, don't even get me started on that one - therefore, what the recreational riders were left with as they approached the lower half of the slope was a 3-meter wide channel to get to the bottom.

Not only does this put a dampening on your time up there it also makes it very tricky and possibly dangerous for which sometimes you cannot help but ride within these poles much to the distaste of the ski team. Eventually, things came to ahead when a manager had to come out and take the decision to open the un-used closed-off slope reserved for the tobogganing.

Isn't about time though, the management up there decided what there priorities are because I have to drive 40 odd miles up the M1 to go riding and it can be quite disappointing when you arrive to find that you only have so much of the slope to use or, its not been groomed for a few days or, you're standing in the lift que waiting for one the staff to re-start the lift but no one is about even though there are 2 or 3 of them supervising the tobogganing.

On a good note though... I like the idea of the Breakfast club up there where they put out a small rail or make a small kicker on a Sunday morning... I cannot always make Friday nights!

However, it is about time London and the south in general was serviced by a good in-door slope so.... ROLL ON HEMEL HEMPSTEAD!!!!

Slide on Hemel Hempstead!

Having said that, I thought the snow at MK a few weeks back was well and truly fixed. A new condenser has been fitted apparently.

Ahh this is why you ring before you go, the people on the phone aren't that useful a lot of the time but i was planning on going saturday and the girl i spoke to described it exactly as you just did, so i didn't bother going.

Never turn up at MK blind as you never know what they're gonna do!

Whats the planned date for the finishing of Hemel?

And on the opening day, should we make a large SCUK Presence?

Friday's set-up was exactly as advertised and the "big" kicker was very well built for once, and it lasted the whole night.
Gotta give credit where it's due....

Such a shame they trashed it though... Why can't they build a decent kicker and leave it for the whole summer, the place is near empty anyway.

If it's a problem to do with lack of medics or staff, they could just open it for a few hours a day.

I've emailed them some suggestions but I doubt they'll take them on board

Let's just hope next week's just as good (as a matter of interest though, does anyone know who shaped that kicker last friday?)

As for Hemel, I hear they're more concerned with racing than freestyle, but since I've never ridden there I can't really comment, will just have to wait and see.

Hey, I've never ridden up there myself - stopped riding Dendix a longtime ago after Hillingdon closed and only went back briefly last year when I was working down in Fareham and was using Southampton but, I hope that's not the case because it would be a shame... What is it about racing... Stupid Even for skiers surely freestyle has got to be the way forward...???

Roll on Hemel indeed! I understand your frustrations about having to battle on up the M1 (then back again!) just 2 get a snow fix! Then usually 2 be utterly disappointed. I think we speak on behalf of a majority on this.

Popa3, totally agree with u on the kicker front! This would not only please all riders but makes the lives of the park staff a lot easier too. They should have a set park but change a few lines here and there to keep it fresh-ish. Would be so much better! A win win scenario really. No idea why they dont do it! Come on guys lets put it forward to them!
Does anyone know who is the main person responsible in making these decisions?

The most annoying thing is the fact you get no where near your moneys worth these days! *Sigh* As if the credit crunch isnt bad enough already!

Hemel always had a strong race team when i used to go regularly so what's to say they wont be exactly the same? It's the home slope advantage after all!

after Hillingdon closed

u should have come up hemel while it was open then as most of the hillingdon crew road there

about mk's ramp night, on the few times i have been there, the set up has been nothing like what is shown on there site, eg air bag, get there, no air bag and the same for the jumps, am i just looking in the wrong place or do they never put out what they say they will?

To be fair, lately they've been a lot better at putting out the toys they've advertised. The problem is with consistency, mainly with the kickers.

Went back last friday and the "bigger" kicker was just atrocious, nothing like the previous friday, we won't bother next week, we'll do FBBB at Tamworth instead.
