Equipment and Media - Boards damaged at MK and repaires...

Rode the friday night park at MK a couple of weeks ago, and seriously trashed the base of my board on the ride-on-rail.

Usual thing – snow compacts down leaving the blunt end of the rail exposed, cutting grooves into the base, which this time ripped a bit of the base ptex back, exposing the wood core.

I pointed the damage out to the lifties, and they took my board in to be repaired.

Now, when mates have done this in the past, the repair's always been done by the TSA/Snowboard Klinic next door, which I expected would happen this time, but I've since found out that XScape are doing the repairs themselves now, which I'm quite concerned about.

I've heard from friends around MK that there are quite a few boards being damaged on the MK park, but for some reason TSA aren't repairing them any more.

I'm wondering what equipment MK use, and what quality of finish they'll provide when they do my board (like, do they use ptex guns, or use ptex candles? And are the people doing the repairs properly trained technicians, or just part-time monkeys?)

So, anyone got their board repaired by XScape recently?
And what sort of job did they do?

How did you manage to get your board repaired? When I spoke to them they told me it wasnt their responsibility! I got my board repaired myself and after months of letter writing I managed to get some compensation.

I dont go to MK any more I would rather use the dry slope!

In the past, after pointing it out to the slopeside staff, myself and Techboy (who had his repaired at the Klinic after damaging his board on an exposed screwhead going up the Poma lift) have either gone to the hire desk or the front desk and asked to see the manager/duty manager.

After explaining how it was damaged on the park they've normally offered to get it repaired for free, and sometimes thrown in an hour or two of free slope-time.

Maybe it's a case of 'the woman taking her car to the garage' scenario – they think they can charge women more for repairs, or in your case fob you off with excuses. Argue more.

Well Xscape themselves p-texed my board before and it's great. The bloke that used to do it (2 years ago now) is lovely and very good at his job!

And watch it, there's nothing wrong with the part-time monkeys up there!
