It takes about half an hour from boro...but i have never fancied it! I think it is the green bits that have put me off!

I'm in Houghton-le-Spring , about 15mins from Silksworth . It's where I learn't and I thought it was ok . It's a lot harder than snow and you'll struggle to link turns but hey it's good fun for like 7 quid an hour compared to bloody castleford which is 2.30hours away and is 25 quid an hour !
I'm going start going regularly , would be good to see some people from SCUK go ! My msn is paralew@hotmail.co.uk add me if you want to chat
I'll be there today (hopefully) , but not tomorrow as I'm having surgery ROBster - Apr 09, 2008 - 08:42 AM Post subject:
Cas isnt 25 quid an hour!
with SCUK discount its £16 an hour
and yeah i guess as you live in haughton it is a bit of a jorney to cas!

I go to Silksworth oftern.
Place is cool. All the staff are helpful
I have been going during the day and the place has been REALLY quiet. So I can fall over all I want
Gimme a shout if you fancy going at some point!

Ah man you just missed me I was there this afternoon .
Evaluations :-
Linking turns is difficult and requires almost expert technique . Well unless you've been riding dry for ages . If you ride snow and your just going dry it will be difficult and wierd at first . This was my second time since being on real snow and I'm linking turns .
It's a fast track with sprinklers on , and the lifts are good I use the button with a tbar . It's more comfortable because you get the comfort of a button and the bar to hold on to .
Not very busy either , staff are friendly enough , cheap but desperatly needs resurfacing !
ROBster - Apr 09, 2008 - 04:05 PM Post subject:
have you been to the freestyle nights on monday? are they any good?
NewbieLew - Apr 09, 2008 - 04:16 PM Post subject:
No would you jump on that sh1t .... seriously ?
LOL no I haven't but I'll either wait till I'm alot better on the dry (I'm good on it link turns etc) but sh1t man ... your dead if you fall on that crap .
Death-dex , doesn't get it's name for no reason Mac83 - Apr 09, 2008 - 08:30 PM Post subject:
Dendex posse! w00t!
I'm at Silksworth most Mondays (i have to suffer a car share with worr lass!). I think i'm the only one that gets on SCUK regularly tho. It's a good laugh and we're a good bunch but the slope is going downhill IMHO (no pun intended!).
Last Monday there were no sprinklers on, the main lift was fooked so that was off too. And there were no instructors so they wouldn't get the kickers out. Things can only get better eh!
Having said that - it's 10mins along the road from me, it's fairly cheap i suppose compared to Cas which is 90miles away and it's good craic! I've been there a year, made some good mates and picked up far more tips than i would in a lesson. And after that kid on a pair of planks nearly broke his back a few weeks ago - all the skiers (chavs!) seem to have been scared off!
Feel free to come and say hi one night.
Kim... are you Tim? (that only makes sense if you are!)
Polaris - Apr 10, 2008 - 02:42 PM Post subject:
HAHAHA Im Not Tim
I keep wussing out of going to the Monday club at Silks. Been going to Gateshead on a thursday night for the club. great atmosphear small slope.
I shall have to pop along one week.
Kim

So you ARE Tim then...
I keep meaning to get along to Wiki Thorns for a look... One of the guys i work with rides there.
I couldn't have made it last night - I was down at Cas Vegas!!!!
First time on anything even slightly like snow and Bill takes me on Freestyle night! I spent the first half hour just keeping out of the way and trying to plant my turns without catching edges... It was all good after that. Even managed to land a kicker and attempted a few slides on two of the smaller boxes.
Polaris - Apr 11, 2008 - 01:26 PM Post subject:
Hahaha awesome.
I did Tam, and Trafford Last month. want to hit cas this month at some point. Found snow so much more graceful.....
would really like to start learning to jump and do rails.
I'm off on monday..... will try to get to Silks! hehe no laughing at me falling!
Geatshead was empty last night.... only 5 people on the slope. There are only 3 more "offical" club sessons left this year, however provided they can get about 10 people paying each week they may keep it open longer. so get your arse down and keep the club open! hahaha

Hi folks!
I learnt at Whickham, was taught by Jason and Allie. Tiny slope, and can only link a couple of turns before i'm at the bottom already, but its ok to practise on. I've been meaning to go to the club for ages... no excuse really!!
Have been to Cas and want to get down there more often, but abit lonely driving by myself, and can't really justify the petrol costs! Am pretty much free during the day too, which is good time to go Cas.
What is CFe like? much bigger than Cas?
Anyway, i'm up for anywhere, anytime! Whickham, Siksworth, Cas, or CFe, just gimme a shout!! I'll try to go Silkworth on Monday too
Cheers! Si

Lew hope you recover soon, what op you had?? anything interesting??
NewbieLew - Apr 12, 2008 - 02:44 PM Post subject:
Well about 10 weeks ago I tumbled on the dry slope carried on boarding and it was illdiagonsed at the hospital (BLOODY NURSES) !!!
Went to physio about 4 weeks ago and he said I'd torn my Ulna triangular fibrocartilidge (Connects ulna and radius so pretty serious) . Got an MRI scan and that was snapped and I'd torn another ligament too !
Had op on the 9th april and he found I'd also chipped bones which are irrepairable Early arthritis he said ... Never mind NewbieLew - Apr 13, 2008 - 03:16 PM Post subject:
Anyone know about job vacancies at silksworth ? I'm looking for a summer job like working on weekends maybe with the kit and sh1t

Or ring them? (0191) 5535785
Friend of mine did her works experience there last summer... dunno if they're after any actual staff tho. Best to get in early if they do. NewbieLew - Apr 13, 2008 - 06:13 PM Post subject:
