I am thinking of travelling up to Aviemore from Warrington (Cheshire) for a blast on the mountain this easter weekend. A group of four intermediate boarders. I reckon by car it will take about 5 hours.
Anyone been? Would you reccommend? How was the snow and piste?
Reccommended accomodation please?
PLEASE HELP!

Thanks!

It takes 3 hrs from Glasgow to get up to Cairngorm, so I reckon you'll be pushing it to do it in 5 hrs from Warrington. Keep in mind that the traffic will be busy with the Easter weekend, so the traffic police will be out in force. It's like shooting fish in a barrel for them at this time of year.

The weather forecast leading into the weekend is a bit of a stinker to be honest. Thurs, Fri and Sat all have high winds forecast Sad

Check out Winterhighland, they usually keep on top of the conditions every day....

5 hours from Warrington is pushing it. Best I've managed from Glasgow was 1h 37 to Tesco's in Aviemore and that was gunning it on a quiet Sunday morning and I would say Warringtoin is likely to be 3.5 h from Glasgow so unless you intend to average about 90mph through Easter traffic then leave plenty more time.

Jump onto visitscotland.com and have a look at what gaffs they have available to stay in but Easter weekend is going to be popular I reckon

Hi guys. We did it! Easter morning, 3am not fun. Hit the snow in Carlisle at 4am, thought we would have to turn back. But we reached there by 9am and hit the mountain hard! It was poor visibility due to fog, 30-40mph winds at -25 and horizontal snow. £28 lift pass, bargain. The powder was amazing, well worth the three hour sleep and 6 hour drive!
Thanks for your advice, Aviemore Cairngorm highly reccommended. Home by 11pm, what a great day to spend Easter Sunday.
