Equipment and Media - New board ideas?? twinkletoes - Sep 17, 2007 - 03:41 PM Post subject: New board ideas??
Its that time of year when I am thinking of buying a new board but heres the thing ...
I really struggle to flex my board as I am only a tiny 5.4. I dont have much weight behind me either (a lady never tells her weight but seeing as it may have some bearing on your advice I am around 8 st).
At the moment I have a www which has not been too bad but I find it a bit heavy so I am looking for a light board but real flexy. Any ideas?? Oh and my feet are a little 3/4.

The APO selekta is a light weight flexy board. I find my 149 not much heavier than my Burton T6 156 (with same bindings on) but is a lot more fun for flexin around on.
Ride kink is also a super flexy board and comes in shorter lengths

I'd advise to go for a womans board, my sis had problems with a mans board then she got a girls burton (can't remember which think it was the feather) and found it so much easier to ride and flex. Think K2 do some of the better ones but as I'm a guy a might be wrong.

Im think im pretty much the same stats as you twinkletoes, 5.4 and around the 8 stone mark.....been a while since i checked.
I ride a a gtwin 146. Its super light and so flexy its awesome! Seeing that you ride a WWW and want something with flex assume you want a freestyle board and the gtwin is a pure freestyle board. I also have some escapades on there and they are just so light. Not a cheap set up but its so worth it.
You would definately benefit from a womans board as will be narrower than your WWW.

You should check out the true snowboards. I am close to your height and am totally hooked on them after last year.
Some new designs out for this season but I will be sticking with the spirit 149 for general use and the passion for off-piste.
The torsional flex is perfect. There are several dryslopes you can test them this year or if you are out in Morzine give me a shout and you can demo one.

Salomon make awsome ladies boards (as well as blokes) and based on last years performance the Lush 144 or 149 (need to convert weight...my head hurts) would be ideal
try and get to a board demo session at a local dome or slope it's worth trying as many as possible
happy shopping
