SCUK Bash - Possible alternative apartments for the Bash

Post subject: Possible alternative apartments for the Bash
Mike from Wasteland who came last year on the Bash and will be with us this year, took a trip over to Les Menuires just before Christmas to scope things out.

He says there are some alternative apartments available for those people on the basic package. They are brand new, better planned with more space, but 5 minutes from the Yeti bar which is our HQ.

What are people's thoughts on using the new apartments, rather than being above Yeti?

Post subject: RE: Possible alternative apartments for the Bash
I'm in a Chalet, so the apartment thing doesn't concern me (although I expect a screaming horde to decend wanting more space, the holy grail of cheap holidays in France...), but to risk slight thread hijack, I would be interested in car access to the Chalets, whilever Mike the mole was snooping around and may have info?

Here's some shots of the alternative apartments. Mike insists he does not know the people in the shots Smile

For those that were at Yeti in Alpes d'Huez last year, you can see they're a vast improvement on those, but I have no idea what the apartments above the Yeti in Les Menuires are like.

Better appartments please!

You'd be mad to not want them. The only thing i really want is elbowroom in the shower and a bed. Everything else is a bonus!

Never been so cannot really comment. Though a five minute walk isn't much! I will rent my sledge out for anyone that doesn't fancy the walk! How far will we be from the lifts?

The guys in the chalet photos look cool! I hope they are there too!

I've voted to upgrade - only because of people comments on the apartments last year Smile

5 mins to the HQ is okay. How far are they away from the slopes and other things? Will we be walking to the slopes/shops/whatever or getting transport? I'm new to all this hehe.

I have no idea whether the Yeti apartments in Les Menuires are better or worse than Alpes d'Huez and I assume that all "Yetis" are different. The chalets are supposed to be really nice though.

People's comments last year were that a) they wanted better/more food and b) they wanted better accommodation, which is why we played it safe by offering the chalet option. Originally one of the two chalets was catered, but after several months nobody had booked that option, so we removed it, so both were catered.

BTW, "Mike" up there is Mike from Wasteland. Finally got him signed up Smile

Looks like the better apartments are popular though. If we take that option, it would be for everybody who booked the basic package.

You can ride straight to the door of both Yeti and this new place. Will try to find out where they are wrt lifts. Everything is walking distance though and there is a pedestrian lift system which operates until 11pm. I'll ask Mike for some more details.

UPD: Mike says the new apartments are in the same area as the chalets, so even better. See map on WB page.

I see you as the comfortable sort LB. Pipe and slippers before Horlicks and bed.

Looks like it's a go then. I don't think we need to decide until next week, but better rooms nearer the others is a bonus if you ask me. It sounds like the SCUK crew will be in with the Basic Bunch anyway as all the chalet places have gone.

Move us, to the better appartments. Its away from the music (mad Dutch singing), better digs and everyone is based together.

yeah, the apartments last year did leave a little to be desired, couple of nights of the dutch singing coming thro the wall at 4am really put me in a good mood.

And the bashing my funnybones got in that shower, plus the occasional nudge of the taps......from comforatable to 'uncomfortable' in one easy motion............. jeez

Added bonus would be that if we're not in the Yeti, there's more room for more Dutch students on their student week.

my vote is for the upgrade. Though there are no pics of the shower room......hopefully the photographer was not standing in the shower cubicle for the second last photo taken and sitting on the toilet for the last. No need to be shy people Wink

Sent the email out last night. Everybody booked should have got one (except figureitout as she seems to have left her job Wink ), if not details on the WB page - see events menu.

We have taken the new apartments. I don't have all the details, but they are 4 person pads with two in the bedroom and two in the living area. We had similar but larger rooms last year.

Not sure on beds. Layout of chalet 1 shows 3 doubles, but Mike said they were all twins. Chalet 2 doesn't show the beds. Still trying to find out about the beds in the apartments, but I'm hoping they're twins. Should have all this info confirmed by the end of the week, so I can sort allocations.

Don't know the names of the new apartments.

Hi, I just been on the "wasteland ski big" chill before christmas.
So yes, the accommodation does differ from resort to resort. Over in Risoul there were apartments of 6, with 2 rooms with 2 bunks each and a sofa bed in the living room that accommodates 2.
We got lucky because there were few people so most apartments had 3 people.
